“Pleasantly surprised by everything except the view from the room”
Reviewed February 16, 2014

My wife and I spent 2 nights here over a weekend. We know London well having lived here previously for over 10 years but had never been back to stay in a hotel. The location of the hotel is great and we walked just about everywhere we wanted to go. The design and décor are clever and well thought out, and refreshingly different from similarly priced grand hotels over in Mayfair. The service was good and we had a very enjoyable afternoon tea followed by cocktails with friends in the Drawing Room. Breakfasts were also good with a very wide choice available, along with friendly, relaxed but efficient service. The bedroom itself (A Deluxe room) was very good. Loads of space, huge bed, fantastic bathroom, pleasing but not overpowering décor. The only slight negative surprise was to have a view of a featureless wall 6ft away from our window. We were not planning to spend too much daytime in the room so it wasn't a big problem, and I guess there were positives in that there was no privacy problem which you can have with other buildings overlooking your room but it wasn't quite what we expected when paying more than £500/ night, and when the Deluxe room advertised on the website has a reasonably good outlook from its window. Nevertheless, we will almost certainly return to the hotel but will probably try and secure a room on a higher floor with better views.

Room Tip: Our Deluxe room had plenty of space, particularly for central London. If you are planning to spend m...

Fun bar for cocktails. Excellent service, great atmosphere and a good crowd. Dinner behind us looked good and I might have to stay the night next time! Will definitely return for another fun night out.

Was invited to a birthday party here where the birthday girl hired out multiple rooms for the celebrations, so we decided to book in for a few nights so we didnt have to travel far after the party. Was spectacular, the rooms were brilliant, the interior decor was vibrant yet classy. Will be back in the future.

This is the 3rd time we have stayed at The Soho Hotel and the experience has been consistently exceptional. Rooms and bathrooms are spacious with large comfortable beds. Quality of sleep is amazing and the nights have always been incredibly quiet. The restaurant and bar is brilliant and they also do a great afternoon tea in the lounge area. Evenings are busy with a upbeat vibe. Throughout the hotel the decor is stunning. All the staff are very polite and professional. Check-in is quick and efficient. Its in a great location and is my number one place to stay when Im in London.

This hotel is by far the best family hotel.
The staff are excellent and which ever Firmdale Hotel you stay in the service is as comparable.
Wow interiors, great bars and foods is alway good.
Pricey but worth it.
I alway stay with the Firmdale family when in London.

Room Tip: Go for a suite if budget permits.

I visited the Restaurant 2 Weeks ago and had an issue with my food, I Complained and the bill was rescinded.

I received an apology from the Manager Laura the following Day with an invite to come back and have a meal on her!

Which I did the following Sunday and I also booked a room, WOW when I checked in I was upgraded to a Penthouse Suite with some Massage Oil and a handwritten apology!!

The Meal was Amazing as was the room and service I received!

And When I paid the Bill in the Morning all our drinks (lots) had been taken off the bill!!

Now that's what I call Customer Service!

A big thanks to Laura and her Team as they went beyond the call of Duty!

P.s I have booked in again !

Room
Very nice sized room with a walk-in closet. Nice comfortable bed but bad flat pillows. Cool funky decor but wasn't crazy about the mannequin bust in the room. Not much of a view, we looked into other buildings.

Housekeeping
When we first arrived we were told our room was ready and walked in to piles of blankets and drawers on the ground and bed unmade. That in itself was not a big deal. However when we tried to get our room made again on another day, we got back to the room and it was mostly cleaned, but they left a pile of blankets in the room. Kind of strange.

Bathroom
Location
Normally a pretty decent location near Piccadilly Circus, however over NYE, DO NOT STAY HERE. Over NYE, in order to void congestion, all the streets are shut down a good 1-2 miles around the hotel from 5pm to 4am. And when I say shut down, I mean absolutely no cars are taxis are allowed in this area. Getting to and from Fabric was an absolute nightmare. We walked a good few blocks to where there was suppose to be taxis but didn't find any. We finally flagged one down after about walking a mile. Getting back, even worse. We could not find a single taxi and ended up taking a cycle rickshaw who had to try and hide from the cops to get past barriers to get us back to the hotel. This is all in 30 degree weather and freezing wind. Aside from that getting a taxi from this location was mostly pretty easy.

Room Service
Not expensive but not very good. Sad dry brioche and a clump of unseasoned lobster was the lobster roll. However the plus is that room service is 24x7.

Overall decent experience but didn't blow my skirt up.
