The hotel staff really put themselves out for our one night stay! When Serena found out it was my friends birthday, we had birthday cake in the room (because she thought she's spoilt the birthday surprise that I booked my friend in for a facial, she sorted the cake to say sorry, bless!)
She then called us in our room to check that we were ok, sorted out a twin instead of a double (which I had stupidly booked by mistake) and helped us sort out our treatments (which were lovely)

Great stay. They were so helpful and the cookie on arrival helped!

We really enjoyed our stay in London but the hotel brought no added value. It is a character building being the converted magistrate courthouse but Hilton are not a character brand and wouldn't know how to make the best of it The whole hotel experience was similar to a slightly upmarket travelodge. No one to meet you at the door and take your bags or get a Taxi, no turn down service and a reasonable but dull breakfast offering. These things are not essential to a hotel stay but they are touches in a 5 star hotel that make the experience special. The staff were pleasant and helpful, our room was changed without fuss, our first having copious black mould all over the bathroom ceiling but how could you not notice such a thing. The second room was clean but very dark.
As already mentioned in previous reviews the entertainment system was complete rubbish. Almost unwatchable, dreadful sound and useless functionality. This didn't concern us at all but might be important for others. I know that star ratings are calculated in a manner that does not always seem logical and don't know what makes this a 5 star hotel but it does not have a remotely luxurious feel to it. The location on the other was tremendous, truly 5 star and as such we had one of our most enjoyable trips to London. In our previous 2 trips we have used the Stafford and the Langham both of which added to our experience but did not have the benefit of this brilliant and really buzzing location. Perhaps next time we might look to find quality and location!

Enjoyed our stay here in August 2012. Our room was in the back and not noisy at all- slept great and had no problems. Service was great at the front desk- they had our accommodations ready in just a few minutes and we were an early arrival. In fact, Serena gave us a king room instead of a queen which made it even more special. We ate first night at the Spaghetti House right down the street and had a great meal for a reasonable price. The next morning we had a light breakfast at the Starbucks nearby (2 right by hotel) which was convenient as we had plenty of touring to do. Great retail nearby- Liberty's right across the street. I have stayed in three or four other hotels in London and this ranks as well or above them in comfort, service, cleanliness, and location. Not the Ritz but very nice!

Room Tip: Our room looked off the back and was very quiet.

Went for afternoon tea as part of a Virgin Experience package. Sandwiches and cakes had been standing somewhere for a time as when they were served they were hard and discoloured on the outside surfaces. One waitress, really uninspiring surroundings. Wish we were somewhere else.

I had to spend 9 nights with my wife in London and I choose this hotel because of its central location and a minimum area offered for the room. Space in London can become scarce. So even though the price was expensive I figured I had my fundamentals.
This hotel has a big maintenance problem and obviously poor management. On the first day we called the hotel handy man to fix the safe deposit box and the toilet flush. On the second day we discovered the Tv didn't work. I got fixed on the third day but in room movies were never available or were interrupted each 2 minutes. This never got fixed. Bedside lamp broken fell on my face every morning. The alarm clock had life of itself and was set on buzzer at 7 am and broken. Had to dismantle it and never got changed or fixed. One of 2 elevators remained broken for 9 days! Finally on maintenance issues our mattress had seen at least a million tourists assuring the worst night every night. When I tried to get a new room my wife was so fed up she didn't want to move. Lets not speak of the carpet. How about that for a romantic get away!
Do not book with breakfast in this hotel. The cook was submitted to a lobotomy under which you will get exactly the same breakfast menu of hot, colds and fruit every day. The consistency besides boring is overwhelming and in any case you will find 5 different breakfast offers within a block of the hotel.
Poor management tends to reflect in employees attitude. Expect to get your door tored down every morning at 8:30 am by the minibar guy. Doesn't matter if you put your sign because he is so loud that you will hear him coming from the other side of the floor. You wil be ousted out of the breakfast hall at 11 am. Every move makes you feel un welcomed. So drink your coffee fast.
What an expensive deception.
Tube station very close, inside Soho and very near of Oxford street and Regent's shopping. Walking distance from Leicester square, Picadilly and the Galeries. Not really the place if you want some distance from the tourist wave.

Location is great. It's across Carnaby, Liberty, and a short walk to the Theater District. It's easy to get to Bond Street, Regent and Oxford St. So all the shopping you want is within a few minutes walk.
The Oxford Circus Underground is just around the corner.
We did not experience the noise that the other reviews mentioned.
We were happy with our stay and will recommend the hotel to friends.
The staff were all wonderful. Always smiling, friendly, and offers assistance.
The free magazines in the lobby is pleasant bonus.
