“Fast and filling”
Reviewed June 22, 2014 via mobile

Don't know if it's authentically the Egyptian recipe - and I don't care. But it is absolutely delicious, cheapish and filling. Sauce, seasoning and toppings lift good old veggie standby of lentils and pasta into a league of its own. We've wimped out and gone for the mild tomato sauce which means you can really pick up some subtle flavours like crunchy coriander seeds. Tiny takeaway with a row of bar stools and really only one dish, if you don't count the staff who were both helpful and remarkably handsome. Also to be found on the South bank and at other food markets but really useful here if you've got 15 mins before a show in town. The small pot at £4.50 was plenty. We bought the meal deal with juice and salad for £7.00 and had to take the salads home.

Well Koshari is the most famous dish in Egypt. We are extremely happy you liked it. Hope to see you again.

“Vegan but also just great food!”
Reviewed June 17, 2014

As part of a meticulously planned London trip for my son's birthday, and on a budget, we managed to score a voucher for Koshari Street from kgbdeals. I chose this particular place because I knew we'd eat a lot of junk and wanted to make sure that at least one meal was hearty and healthy. We trekked over there after a very long day at the Natural History Museum, during rush hour, with rumbling bellies and a sceptical husband and 9yr old. The £9 voucher bought us 2 large pots of Koshari, 2 salads/soups or puddings and 2 drinks.
Expecting to have to buy extra to cover all 3 of us we were delighted to find that this was plenty for everyone. The very pleasant staff regretfully informed us that they were out of the mild sauce. Luckily my son doesn't mind a bit of spice but to be on the safe side, we chose hummus as a side for my son to mix in to his portion, just to take the edge off the spice. On top of this we also had tabbouleh and 2 juices prepared locally (beetroot and apple if I remember right).
Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, was delicious! 9 months later my husband still talks about it despite his previous scepticism. Absolutely worth going out of our way as we left full and happy. The portions were so generous and the voucher such a good deal that I felt as though we'd robbed them, so we left almost the same amount again as a tip.
Very limited seating, which wasn't a problem when we visited. An absolute hidden gem!
I only wish they would expand North and open a branch in Scotland!

“A completely delicious and more-ish carb-fest at Koshari Street!”
Reviewed June 15, 2014

This place is delicious!!! I could literally have filled the review with exclamation marks as to how tasty and filling and warming and spicy and full of texture and flavour the food here is.

As it seems most other people have found this place, I did so with a Groupon voucher and if it comes on again, you can bet I'll be doing it again.

Unbelievable value for what you get and how yum it is, don't expect to need to eat again for several hours afterwards as the combination of rice and noodles and chickpeas and lentils and pasta is the sort of thing that would prep you well for a marathon but please, don't feel you need to run for 26 miles afterwards in order to eat it...as long as there's a seat in the sunshine for you to sink into and relax, you'll be fine.

Definitely, 100%, completely worth trying for a meal that's unusual and brilliant.

“Wonderfully tasting modern egyptian street food”

There's only one dish but with a variety of ways to put it together - ie. like a burrito stall. Super tasty and simply!

“Cheap and satisfying vegan dish”
Reviewed May 31, 2014 via mobile

Ok, some of the desserts aren't vegan because of milk but the koshari is meaning no chance of x-contamination. Don't be fooled by the portion size as there is plenty of protein and complex carbs to make it very filling. Staff are very friendly and always happy to explain koshari. If you are unsure of chili, ask to taste. Love this place for its simple but v tasty food.
