I have to say that this shop was quite a surprise. When I went on a study abroad trip 2 years ago this shop did not exist and Platform 9 3/4 was out side under some scaffolding. I don't like how tourist-y they've made the platform. You have to queue up for a picture now that you can buy from inside the shop. That being said, I DID love the poster of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone they had for sale. For 30 GBP you could get the whole first Harry Potter book typed out on the poster. If I thought I could have got it home in my luggage I would have bought it. Some of the items were very overpriced. You can get most of it from the Harry Potter Set tours (if you are going there)for anywhere from 5-15 GBP cheaper but the selection was nice and it is nice to see the continuing impact Harry Potter is having on the world. The shop is a little cramped (as I imagine all wizard shops would be ;) )but it is definitely worth a pop in at least!

We went to King's Cross expecting to find a nice 9and 3/4 platform for our 11 year old who is the true HP (not the sauce!) fanatic. But low and behold, what did we find there, a queue and some nice youngish photographs and help to show us how to take the best picture from platform 9and3/4 (you know the drill). You can take your own films/pictures but theirs is more professional and if you decide to go for it, it costs you £8...

To be honest to these young guys who were probably trying to pay off their uni loans, it was a good experience for us (because we arrived early enough... before 10 am) and we did get the "professional" picture after all for the 11 year old who thought it was grand, so overall a nice treat for all your HP fanatics out there.

The trolley in the wall is fun and a great photo opportunity but the shop itself is a bit of a let down.
The shop is on the small side and the stock isn't as good as what you can buy from the Warner Bros. Studio Tour in Leavesden. The wand section is cool tho.
Definitely worth a visit anyway!!

Platform 9 3/4 really exists now at the the King's Cross Station. There is no fee to see it or photograph it but if you want the interactive photo then there will be a fee. This is a great photo op. for young and old fans : hold on to the half trolley protruding from the wall (that has presumably half disappeared through the wall) marked platform 9 3/4, while an attendant holds on to the end of the Hogwarts scarf and waves it to create an effect of motion in the picture - as though you are in motion about to disappear through the wall along with the rest of the trolley !!! They lend you the scarf of your choice for the photo - you get to choose which house you want to belong to. What fun - at 8 pounds a pop this is a great souvenir to have . For the interactive photo the line can be long and you pay only if you like the picture and want a copy from the shop . Friends are free to take your picture also as you push the trolley. The waiting in line is also a lot of fun as the attendants are funny !!!
