I had never seen this place before so thought I'd give it a try. Staff seemed friendly and attentive but I wasn't very impressed with the food. Everything seems to be served on sourdough toast. I had eggs benedict and the toast was cold. Eggs were cooked nicely though.
The cake fridge/cabinet/display is completely open on the front and a young child stuck his finger into one of the cakes. Nice. Would be better if covered.
A look at the rest of the menu and saw Porridge for £6? Really?? Also saw 'Smoky bacon Boston beans on sourdough toast'...£6.90...isn't that just beans on toast, for just under £7?
My wife had soft boiled eggs with (sourdough) soldiers. This consisted of 2 boiled eggs in a re-used section of an egg box, a few (sourdough) soldiers and a pot of marmite to use...£6.90...sorry but for that sort of money that is outrageous. I did also wonder how many other people's knives had been dipped into the marmite jar. Didn't seem very hygienic.
Anyways the coffee tasted fairly good so that was a plus but I certainly will not be returning. Plenty of other places in the village to get breakfast from.
