We live near the Watchhouse and love stopping in on the weekends. Having lived in Hamburg we appreciate the German footprint on the menu, outdoor seating, and relaxed approach to drinking and eating. A charming place located in an old school next to a garden, we are amazed by the value time and time again.

Very friendly staff, quality coffee, sandwiches and cakes and breads all on offer. Good prices too. Located in a historic place too which is cool. Hope this place survives in this location, as its a place you wouldn't know about if you didn't spot it.

We visit this cafe regularly. Every morning for our pre work coffees. Every weekend for our croissants and bread. Every week with friends for a catch up. It really is an excellent cafe. I recommend you stop by the next time you're in the area.
Stay for a crepe - they are delicious.

I've just moved to Rotherhithe and I am sampling the local cafes. So on a snowy Sunday morning my partner and I visited the Watch House for monring coffee. The Watch House was built in 1821 to watch the graveyeard of St Mary's Church to prevent grave robbing so the cafe is housed in an interesting building in a historic area. The staff were very friendly and the coffee and almond crossants were really good. On a subsequent visit my partner tried the vegan coconut cake which was also deemed excellent. By the time we left all the tables were full with locals who seem to visit regularly - that in itself has to be a good recommendation! So a great place to call in when you are in the area.
