It was the wifes birthday on the 14th Dec and I treated her to a meal and some drinks at the savoy lunchtime. After an afternoon "nap" we went for a walk to the Lamb and flag for a couple of pints and went in search of a bite to eat.Making our way back to our hotel (The palace) we noticed a lot of candles in the window of the port house which looked very inviting. We ventured inside and it was busy downstairs so where shown upstairs to a table. The wine list was great and they do special gin and tonics which where great. We where served by a lovely Irish girl who managed the place and she was extremly helpfull with a great manner about her.We enjoyed some lovely Tapas dishes and a bottle or two and vowed to come back.
Sure enough two weeks later we returned with friends as we had met for a drink locally.Once again the food was great. If you are nearby pop in I`m sure you will like it and very reasonable too!

What a great find. The Strand has struggled for good interesting restaurants for ages. This is an above ground cellar - long and thin & lit by candlelight. Still new, so alas quite quiet on the Friday lunchtime we were here, but can imagine would have a great atmosphere at night. Primarily tapas, with a good cheese menu and what looked a very good wine selection. We had four dishes - "skewered prawns pil pil" - not spicy, but fresh, flavoursome and rich in garlic; "Chorizio in red wine" - big portion - juicy and tasty; "potatoes in alioli" - temperature hot, but lovely and garlicky & again a good portion; finally "steak on toasted bread" - perfect in every respect. We had a bottle of sparking water and the whole meal was £26 - great value! Super service too. Will definitely return.
