Have been to the royal star twice now for Sunday brunch and the food was top rate . Eggs benedict with perfect hollandaise, sourdough with halloumi and greens. Amazing. Highly recommended. Also the restaruant staff is great, and the decor lovely. At last a great restaurant in this area!

We had an afternoon at the Victoria Miro and stumbled on this place on the City Road on the way back. Retro place with modern vibe. Menu was different for the area – American themed but not diner food, classy. Open fireplace, great wine list and staff not in your face.

We visited the Royal Star not long after it had opened after a full refurbishment and it was lovely! We came on a recommendation of a friend for Sunday brunch and it didn't disappoint. The atmosphere was nice, the bar was nice and open with lots of vintage decor. We didn't go into the restaurant area, but I could see through a glass door and you can see into the kitchen. There wasn't that many people here, but that must be because it is new, I bet this place is buzzing on a Friday & Saturday night! The food was vibrant, quirky and good portion sizes. We shared a halloumi and roasted vegetable salad, the mix of warm and cold I'm really loving at the moment. And the cassava chips - I'd have these again. My husband had the all day breakfast and I had the pulled pork po'boy (pulled pork in a bap with burger-type toppings) and they were both delicious. And the puddings were to die for, I'm a chocolate lover so had the Boca Negra (chocolate brownie like) and persuaded my husband to have the Brigaderio (rich chocolate moose), yum!
We're keen to come back and try the mains on a night out, judging by the menu on their website and what we had for brunch I am sure they will be delicious!
