This is a branch of a burgeoning empire which began in the dumps of Brixton but has since spread to the Olympic Westfield Shopping Extravaganza in Stratford amongst other places. It occupies the site of a defunct steakhouse next to the not so popular as it once was Red Lola Spanish Tapas (whose second branch just down the road has recently supplanted an Austrian schnitzel and bier haus (I preferred the Austrian predecessor), and whose most recent neighbour is a Turkish restaurant. Such is the diversity of gastronomic fare available in just a small stretch of the Northcote Road nowadays.
Franco Manca is a small space with a lively open kitchen at the back serving a small number of thin crust pizzas with a rotating specials of the day, a mozzarella or two as starters and a few desserts.
Service is prompt and efficient as it has to be as the place quickly gets packed weekends with queuing outside not unusual, no doubt much to the envy of the Red Lola management whose once busy establishment has been curiously rather empty ever since Franco Manca opened its doors here. And deservedly so.
