“Great breakfast, ok coffee”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 29, 2013 via mobile

We had two breakfasts which were lovely although not all that generous the coffee was ok but unremarkable. Only one waitress who knew what was going on and one first-day waitress meant that the poor waitress was literally running around.
Would definitely go back for more, main menu looks good.

“Another nice Hackney eatery”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 10, 2013

Our first visit to this place. The restaurant has a nice informal coffee shop feel, lots of staff - not quite clear what they all do. Our food was excellent, mine a beef and carrot pie served on a slate disk with some watercress leaves and a deep fried ball of bubble and squeak perched atop, my wife's a skillet with fish gratin and jerusalem artichoke. Both very good, the pie a little tricky to eat on its disk which didn't allow for any spillage. We ordered a warm chelsea bun but had a scone with cream and jam (which was nice anyway, even if we didn't order it). A black coffee, a latte, one bottle of London Fields (local brewery) IPA and a glass of rose, all for £45, service not included.

Service was a little slow and inept with our main waitress seemingly unfamiliar with the menu - her first day on the job perhaps? We had a table by the window which seemed draughty.

The toilet is says it is wheelchair accessible but in fact is tucked behind some shelves and would be difficult/impossible for anyone using a wheelchair to access without making a fuss - this needs to be sorted out.

All in all a good place to go for lunch if you are going for a stroll along the regents canal between Broadway Market and Victoria Park, or if you are wanting to check out some galleries on nearby Viner Street.

“Hackney Food Seen Get Even Better”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 7, 2013

This will be our first review on trip advisor, we ate here on 5th jan. Thought this place was called tea thyme , Could not find information on the internet for booking a table, so I had to drop by early in the day, Ben the manger showed us a table we would have that night when my wife booked.very helpful! Just to let you know the place changed name last year but has not changed it signs outside beware when trying to find it . It was a very busy night for us and we were travelling from south London , and had a event in Bethel green town centre after dinner, so we booked dinner at 7pm by the time we had finished the place was full, which did change the way we were served, the waiter serving us seemed to forget what we had ordered for our main course, there was only two of us not hard! however the food we did get served was very good, light but good portion sizes. My wife had an Parsnip and chestnut soup with little home made scones, I had a very tasty crab, spiced jelly and smoked salmon. For mains the wife had a bubble cake with a yummy eggplant purée, and a soft duck egg, I had herb duck leg with very braised red cabbage and a great tasty sauce. We did not have a pudding, we was not offered one by the waiter till it was time for us to move onto our next appointment. overall this bright field is a a place we go back to to, great food, some great staff, location is ok, toilets not the best, highlight- confit duck leg !

“Great place for brunch !”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 25, 2012

Came here for a brunch on way to friends. Great breakfast cooked to perfection. Lovely freshly squeezed orange juice, gorgeous kippers, great fresh coffee. Family members also had full English with great quality sausages and bacon.

Everything cooked perfectly , served hot and from great and friendly staff. This place has to do well as it ticks all of the right boxes.

Well done to all of the staff and the chef who all think that quality of food and service is important. Thank you! It's forgotten all too often these days.
