First ever stay in an Ibis (booked for me by work). Booked late during London Fashion Week so paid over the odds - approx £180 for a night. At that price I wouldn't consider it great value. However, between £100 and £150 it would be reasonable value for money.
The hotel is 5 mins walk from Southwark tube. There are shops, bars and restaurants nearby at The Cut which were buzzing on a Wednesday evening. Check in was efficient and friendly. Receptionists were helpful and well trained. The bar and restaurant had a good atmosphere but the music was too loud for me after a long day so I went out and bought some food to eat in my room as there was no room service. You could order at the bar and carry a tray up to your room if you wanted to. Area felt safe for a lone female and I walked to and from The Cut without any concerns in the evening.
My room was spotless and contemporary and the design very well thought out. I had everything I needed to hand. Lighting in the room was excellent - something hotels rarely get right. The pod bathroom was unusual - not sure if I liked it or not - but was functional. Shower was spacious with plenty of hot water and the mirror and lighting in the bathroom superb for applying make up.
Breakfast was an uncomfortable experience for me as it was a but of a free for all. There weren't any free clean tables so I had to perch at the bar. There was plenty of variety but the quality wasn't great. I wouldn't bother with breakfast again.
I would certainly consider staying at this hotel again when visiting London.
