“Good clean modern hotel with poor WiFi”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 10, 2013 via mobile

Have stayed a few times on business. Very nice and handy if you work out the routes to get around London. You are really not too far from lots of things.

Breakfast is very good. Staff are all very friendly. Rooms are clean and modern.

My only issue is with the free WiFi. It is unusably slow (noticed over multiple visits), and really needs to be sorted. It seems that there are just too many people trying to use it. There is a paid WiFi option, but its £10/day!

New clean, well placed, smallish but very well thought out rooms and shower 'pods', very comfortable beds.. Staff are amazingly friendly, close to the South Bank theatres, concert halls and cinema and the famous Old an Young Vic theatres, loads of restaurants on the must visit 'Cut' museums and galleries close at hand or handy via public transport - tube, buses and rail. What more could you want, particularly at this price. Not a pretty area but safe and friendly, and above all the staff go out of their way to be helpful and polite. Well managed and so far cared for! Only downside in our view was the music in the restaurant/breakfast room/bar (alright I suppose if that's your scene) and the ball-catches on the shower doors - other people's night time excursions to the facilities make a lot of noise. BUT if enough people complain - something may get done about it!

Room Tip: corner rooms are a bit bigger, lifts so it doesn't matter which floor but would avoid the lowest...

Stayed there for one night at end October 2012. The hotel exceeded our expectations, as the room was very modern, the bed very comfortable, shower fantastic (good water pressure) AND the breakfast was absolutely scrumptious, which was not at all what we have been accustomed to by other Ibis hotels. It was not only the quality but also the quantity, the staff came in with freshly baked croissants 15' before breakfast was supposed to stop being served. I think it's the best hotel I've ever stayed at in London, and most definitely the best Ibis hotel I've ever been in!!

Stayed here on business because hotels in the Square Mile were too expensive. The staff were polite and courteous when checking in/out, and the hotel in general seems to be very modern and clean.

The room was a good size with everything you'd expect, and the shower was powerful, although the bathroom was a little strange, being a large prefabricated plastic 'pod'! Didn't eat here, but the breakfast looked OK. In terms of location, the hotel is a few blocks south of the river at Blackfriars Bridge, meaning a walk into the City via Millennium Bridge takes about 15-20mins. As a result, I wouldn't book here if you want to be right in the heart of the action, but if that's less of a problem it's fine. It is also very close to Southwark tube station, meaning you can get around London easily.

Overall, not a bad option. My only issue would be that as it has been built in a prefabricated style, the walls tend to be a little thin and it is easy to hear sound from neighbouring rooms (I was woken at 5,45am by somebody next door having a TV on loud). Earplugs are an essential!

A well located modern hotel, close to Waterloo station and the City. Rooms are a little on the small side but are clean and well appointed. Staff are friendly. There was a little bit of noise during the night from other guests but overall not too bad for a Friday night. Price was good.

Very well located, there is underground very near and hire a bike spot the next door. By the way, if you like sport and a different way to know a city, try the bikes. We have enjoyed a lot because everything becomes so near and it's so funny...
The decoration is modern, simple and functional and the room is big with comfortable a bed and pillows.
The staff is helpful and nice.
We had a corner room with three windows and an awesome view.
A very good relation between quality and price.
For us, just two things to improve: maybe the breakfast should be cheaper; It's difficult to maintain the temperature of the water in the shower regular.

Room Tip: We asked for a high floor and stayed in a corner room that was very big and with a very good view.

Visited end of Jan for one night and thought the hotel was great - nice decor, funky bathrooms, great breakfast, centrally located and reasonably priced. Beds were comfortable, and rooms were reasonably sized. Would come again.
