I took a few friends to the Comedor for a birthday meal last night. Have to say, pretty impressed on all levels!
We were greeted at the door by a friendly face and shown to our table. Unlike some other venues in the city, our table (as with all the table in the venue) was lovely and spacious with room to fit all plates, sides, wine bottles, glasses and cutlery!
The background music was soft jazz versions of well known songs and seemed to be at just the right volume to create a lovely ambiance without interfering with conversation.
The waiter instantly made us feel at ease, helping us to choose a wine, helping my friend decide on her main, happily accommodating two extra guests who joined us part way into the evening, and generally being attentive and giving some good conversation without being overbearing.
Now, about the food... empanadas were absolutely delicious, one of my friends being South American was very impressed, full of flavour and not too crusty. The warm cheese starter (don't quite remember what it was called) was also very tasty. I've heard the venue is renowned for its meat dishes, however, the highlight of my evening was the Sea Bass! Cooked to absolute perfection, lovely crisp skin, flakey meat, perfectly lightly seasoned and accompanied by a creamy and flavoursome potato mash and wilted spinach which also had loads of flavour. I wasn't the only one at my table to have this reaction to my food, a lot of tasting of other people's dishes was done, and mouthfuls followed by 'this is soo good!'. All our dishes were presented with care and class as well, brilliant attention to detail, and pretty reasonably priced for such high quality of food!
We then moved on to a few cocktails; I had a pisco sour, and we of course had to have a round of mojitos... again, exceptional flavours which were well balanced. The mojitos were definitely one of the best I've had in London, I've not tried the other cocktail before, but it was fresh and smooth and rather tasty.
We left the venue in hight spirits feeling well cared for and well fed - exactly what you want from an evening out. I am extremely impressed with this venue, and will definitely be returning!!

We were a party of three. Two of us had steaks, one had chicken. I tried mixed grill dish with lamb, beef, chourizo and chicken. The other gentleman in our company had a proper steak grilled medium.
First the good:
Apparently the chicken was better than ever! Steak was as promised, medium, the cook knew his/her stuff well.
The bad:
Nothing so bad, really. I wasn't asked (nor was I quick enough to ask myself) how I want my meat done, so I got it more rare than I would've wished for. However, I was led to believe, by one of my more experienced companion, the meat was prepared most professionally. Indeed it was the best not thoroughly cooked meat I've ever tasted.
Also, in a big city such as London, it would've been nice to not have some odious hum of machines quite loud when trying to enjoy a nice lunch.
The ugly:
We were charged 9 (nine) pounds for water! Coming from Finland we place little value on highly priced waters of any label. This water was supposed to be ethical, from a company putting all its profits to charity. I'm sure profits from these two bottles went to tips for the waiter(s). This is good, as waiters never make enough money. We would've like the change to do the tipping ourselves though, now it was shaken out from our pockets in a fashion a bit lowly. Perhaps not akin to the auteur of Comedor.

In conclusion, a nice place with a loud background noice, excellent food, nice enough service, with suspiciously high pricing of water.

Good place for a Saturday night knees up, special mention goes to the asado and the black cod whose flesh flaked off beautifully into beetroot puree and a bed of butternut squash. Two courses each with two bottles of wine and two cocktails and the bill was under £200. I think steak lovers would rush back but I've had better empanadas and ceviches in street stalls. Desserts (mousse and cheesecake) did the job fine, but unmemorable.

Returned here last Monday for a second time and it just gets better. We both went for steaks which were absolutely delicious. My fillet was huge, tasty and cooked perfectly, medium-rare just as I had asked. My starter of pork belly was amazing and like nothing I had before, the bf went for the squid starter again which he said was just as good as the first time. Nice atmosphere in the restaurant and it was quite busy for a Monday night , I'm guessing because of the half price steaks! Excellent, attentive service and a lovely bottle of red wine topped our evening off. Highly recommend .
