“Fabulous Tuscan Fare”
Reviewed February 22, 2013

We were enticed into this wonderful Italian cafe by the tempting and delicious smells one evening last week. The minute we walked in, it felt like being back in Tuscany; lots of scrubbed wood, simple furniture, shelves of coffee and olive oil and a chef making the most amazing looking pizzas. We opted for a bowl of onion soup which was one of the best I've ever eaten and then a platter of cheese which was so huge we were passing it around to the other tables. The waitress who served us was delightful, the price tag was just about OK (although a bit on the pricey side) but after you've had just a great eating experience you don't mind so much. Well worth a visit!

“Excellent space for pre-theatre nibbles”
Reviewed January 20, 2013

We ordered a number of dishes and a bottle of wine to share between four. Two of us had the soups as well (onion soup and tomato bread soup) which are both available to buy off the shelf to take home. Both delicious and hearty. The platters are generous and served with delicious olive oil and a Chianto vinegar which was fresh and lovely. Again both are available to take home off the shelf. I recommend the cheese platter, which contained four different cheese which included for us Pecorino (fabulous) and a goats cheese aged in hay (equally fabulous), served with bread, bread sticks and focaccia. The Scamorza cheese, fresh tomato & oregano Il Crostone was spot on.

The service was attentive but not intrusive.

We took home some Torttapistocchi (chocolate and hazelnut) which @ £15 is an indulgence, but is an absolute rich chocolate and nut heaven!

“Fantastic!”
Reviewed January 12, 2013

Amazing place with tasty tuscany food. As I'm from near Florence, it's absolutely fantastic to have such a real italian restaurant - with 100% italian products - so near home. The expense is acceptable, and the service was also nice. I will come again to Tuscanic Merende!

“Great food, good wine and excellent service”
Reviewed January 11, 2013

This really is a fantastic place to eat which we discovered on a shopping trip to London in December. Both my partner and I are real foodies and the appeal to Tuscanic is not only the food but the way in which it is presented and the atmosphere. We had a sharing platter which is served with bread and oils and came with a selection of meat and chesses. As regular visitors to Borough Market, we have tried a great number of meats and cheeses before but the ones in this restaurant are truly delicious. The wine is good too and whilst not the cheapest place to eat in town, the quality of the produce and the friendly service is second to none. We will be back again very soon!
