Tried this place over the weekend with some friends.Really fresh flavours not greasy at all.Had the meat platter to start the chicken was awesome. Mains the chicken kadai and lamb shank very different from one another but very tasty. Nicely decorated and well above most Indian restaurants.

We are so glad that Hazara opened its doors in the Belsize Village. It immediately became our local favourite curry house and my husband and I go there quote often. Traditional menu is prepared and presented with a more contemporary twist and food is fresh and always of very good standard. Service is friendly but professional and always attentive. The owner is very welcoming even if we tend to turn very late every time ! The environment is stylish enough. The only negative note is the wine list, that could be definitely improved…but I'm sure they are working on that ! Will definitely recommend it and we will keep visiting.

Went for dinner at Hazara after reading all the wonderful reviews on tripadvisor. I quite liked the food. It was nicely cooked and tasted good but was disappointed with the portion sizes. Also was quite surprised to know they charge for chutneys and poppadum which most Indian fine dine restaurants serve complimentary. Though we enjoyed the dinner ended up paying more than what we had expected as the portions were small.

Absolutely awful......went to this restaurant for valentines meal with the wife based on great reviews on tripadvisor..... What a complete and utter letdown...... Never had basic expectation of quality been rendered obsolete with such efficiency....

Upon arrival was ushered to our seating that would make Ryanair proud in terms of lack of space and comfort. We were literally on top of the couples to either side of us. The restaurant was clearly cashing in on valentine with relish.....

Starters.... Ordered popadoms ...... Utterly uncrispy served with cheap shop bought chutney..... The menu claims the popadoms are home made.... I know what home made is and these were not it....

I ordered mango lassi received water-down garbage..... Wife ordered coke received flat value coke from somewhere .... I also ordered lemonade received flat rubbish that faintly reminded me of those awful panda drinks that I used to drink back at school.

The starter .... Wife ordered takari chat.... Supposed to be indian street food - a delicious mix of chicpeas potatoes etc ..... Received diagonally arranged heap of cheap quality Bombay mix with lashings of the popadom chutneys.... It was hilarious and I was looking for the camera crew as could not believe this was served in an actual restaurant...

My starter was chicken tikka..... It transpired it was 3 small cubes halved to make six pieces separated 3 by 3 by a strip of day old bits of lettuce. The pretentious arrangement was held together by some kind of corriender/mint sauce squiggled randomly below the minuscule offering..... The dim lighting unfortunately only served to heighten my tastebuds who were left profoundly underwhelmed

Anyhow it was valentines day ..... So we consoled ourselves and looked forward to our mains .....

I ordered seafood biriyani .... Never had that and it sounded amazing on the menu..... When it arrived it looked less than appetising.... I suppose over the top presentation is reserved only for the starters.... It was not good.... The rice was hard ..... The prawns tiny.... The squid rings decidedly emaciated..... It tasted like something I might cook but much much worse .....

Wife ordered intriguingly named lamb dish .... Lal Maas ..... What arrived was definitely intriguing but in a negative way.... The sauce was bland and she asked me "is it from a jar"..... As I was fairly shell shocked with a mouthful of the earlier described biriyani I do not recall what my response was....

After a through spanking of our palette we asked for the bill and left promptly looking for a desert place.... Suffice to say I will not be returning to hazara or recommending it to anyone ....

Well presented food, classy serveware, kind staff, individual character to all dishes and not just 'curry'. Best Indian in NW by far. Not a rowdy spot: think more date night or work dinner than 'Friday night with the blokes'. highly recommended.
