This is a super hotel. The staff are very friendly and helpful, working hard to ensure guests enjoy their stay. The location is first class, about a fifteen minute walk from Euston station, 2 minutes to the British Museum, ten- fifteen to all the theatres and Covent Garden. The continental breakfast included in the room price was excellent with a wide selection to choose from. Wifi signal is strong and consistent throughout the hotel. I will stay here next time I visit London

Room Tip: semi ensuite is not a problem. The toilet is nearby and always free

We were surprised at the size of the rooms in this hotel. Much larger than expected. On the down side the rooms did not have en-suite bathrooms. There was a shower cubicle and a wash basin in the bedroom but no toilet. It is surprising that the hotel has not used some of the space in the room to offer en-suite facilities. Rooms are comfortable and coffee and tea are offered for free. The rooms have no safe nor minibar but do have a TV. The location of the hotel is perfect for visiting attractions and it is literally next door to the British Museum. The hotel has a slightly early check-out of 11am but on the plus side it does allow you to keep baggage there after check-out. This free service meant we could make good use of our time on the last day before heading to heathrow. There is no lift at the hotel so be prepared to climb up several flights of stairs if you have a room on the third floor

Room Tip: We had two rooms, one facing the street and one facing the back. The rear facing room was far quiete...

We picked this hotel because it was close to where we wanted to go. The price is good for London and breakfast was included. Our room and bathroom were nice and clean and the staff were lovely and helpful. There was a bit of noise from the underground in our room, but only a faint rumble, nothing to complain about. I would definitely stay again :]

The "Lancaster Hotel" has just been renovated (July 2013), and 3 other properties by the same Grange Hotel chain across are undergoing similar work. This means that right now the "Lancaster" is the quietest of the 4, and we found the renovations in Edwardian style very tasteful--management certainly tries very hard to stay within the historical setting. We loved room 309 although 209 (under it) would be less hot (during the July hot spell in London). It was spacious and sported most of the amenities you would expect in a hotel in this category (minus refrigerator and, of course, the toilet in the room. But it was just 3 yards away, extremely clean). Breakfast was included on 3 of the 5 days we stayed (it seems it is included on weekend nights) and was just fine--and the hotel staff (while not always an excellent source of tourist information) tried very hard. The British Museum; Russell Square or Holborn tube stations are a five-minute walk away; both are on the Piccadilly-Line with direct service to Heathrow, the easiest and cheapest connection if your flights landed there.
Overall we want to recommend this hotel highly--location, location!

Room Tip: Room 309 or 209--both face the rear and are quiet(er)

For London standards the price is not that high - and the room was more than twice the size that I have experienced before. Nice neighborhood and good location (walking distance) for the places I needed to go to. Staff was very friendly and helpful. It has been renovated to modern standards, but without spoiling the atmosphere of "times gone by". There was a shower in the room and toilet in the corridor which caused me no problems at all. Everything was clean and fresh and I will have no problem bringing my wife next time.

EXTREMELY RUDE AND UNHELPFUL STAFF!
In the room that had been described as an 'ensuite' turned out to be a grubby, out-of-place shower in the middle of the room next to an old wash basin. The toilets were shared and down the hall. The windows would not stay open which was pathetic in the heat and the air conditioner was broken which they replaced with a weak fan. Complained at the desk and an arrogant man by the name of Mwansa, duty manager, smirked and blamed us for not researching the room with a condescending tone. Maybe we should have but his arrogance was unnecessary.

Cannot remember when was the last time I refused to stay at a "hotel", but I did tonight. Ridiculous price (greater 170£) for a youth hostel. Room in the 3rd floor, no lift, very narrow stairs, couldn't get my luggage up alone. Room stank of smoke, no air con, very basic and rundown furniture, literally a shower just put up in the room (no separate bathroom) - and no loo! Toilet outside on the floor to be shared!!
Refused to stay, staff managed to book me into a proper hotel. Staff was very helpful.

No idea why this place is allowed to call themselves "hotel"?

Room Tip: Are there any at all in this "hotel"??
