“Traditional elegance … waves of good feelings wash over you.”
Reviewed July 10, 2014

Love this place and often meet clients here for breakfast, brunch or afternoon teas.

Fabulous décor and atmosphere. Really attentive friendly staff.

If you go in for afternoon tea/coffee, you must try one of the cakes... they’re flipping brilliant. If you’re no a diet, it’s probably not the place to visit. They offer superb, but rich, food.. you’ll leave with a warm fuzzy feeling all over.

One of my fave places in London.

“Get organised”
Reviewed July 10, 2014

This is a fake Viennese caff which looks lovely and has nice teas and food and the worst organised waiting staff imaginable. They really need to take a grip. Seven waiters wandering round, a couple of people at the two tills and service that just did not exist. No order at counter. Sit down. Waiters ignoring everyone. Presumably one was not at their table. On the other hand where was the one whose table it was. Really bad experience. Got better service at the sandwich bar a hundred yards down the Aldwych. This has happened before. And they really should do something about the single loo. One is NOT enough.

“Ein bißchen Wien in London”
Reviewed July 5, 2014

OK, so there's no Ferris Wheel or Orson Welles, but the Delaunay counter is rather fun. We turned up just before a matinee at the adjacent Aldwych Theatre, and we were after good fast food. That's what we got, An excellent Pastrami Reuben sandwich - more NY than Wien perhaps but the sauerkraut was excellent, and a nice chicken sandwich for my wife. Two Stiegl Lagers and a couple of coffees and the bill was £23 or so. Not cheap, but nevertheless enjoyable.

Downsides, The Einspänner coffee was more like a latte with a creamy top, and the service a bit slow, But we will be back.

Good wheelchair access with no step from street. We really enjoyed the food & atmosphere. A great find in busy London .

“Lovely place but poor staff”
Reviewed June 7, 2014

We visited the Counter at the Delaunay twice yesterday as it was handy for the Theatre next door. It is a lovely looking cafe with nice food and a good atmosphere. However, as previous reviewers have noted, the service is slow and the waiters seemed miserable and unfriendly. A shame because this place could be something really special with a bit more care and attention.
