A family trip to London is always a financial challenge for us poor and forgotten northerners!! We are really feeling the pinch, so we always look out for the bargains. Having eaten at Cote in Covent Garden before, we thought we`d try and find one near the Haymarket. We had booked for a pre-theatre meal on Friday at 5pm.We got the same helpful and warm greeting and were quickly shown to our seating. An attractive little booth with soft seats. The selection from the set menu was varied. The terrine was great, the soup tasty and the calamari was ample. The house white wine is good quality and reasonably priced - so we had two bottles!!! The main course of Cod was super - just like the best fresh fish landed in Filey. The steaks were as tasty as ever. Simple food cooked well and presented with care, followed by crème caramel which is the best I have tasted. All this for around £100 for five of us including the service charge. This chain of restaurants have found the formula and I hope the can ensure the quality across all their outlets. We plan a trip to York over Xmas and hope that it is as good.
