For £48 pounds for the two of us I really shouldn't complain. But....the only thing that let the stay down was the bed. Every time one of us moved the bed would creak loudly. Let reception know and they are going to check the bed and hopefully repair or change. Room 723. Apart from that we would definately stay there again when visiting our son.

Furniture arrangement and quality ,even though for the leasure, looks very un convenient to stay. No space to put luggage and hang cloths etc.
Heating condition wasn't proper to keep sleep well.
Breakfast was reasonable but if some of hot foods were served, it could be much better.
Shower booth was to small and water leak out from the door to room area.

Having stayed at Ibis hotels before (indeed the nearby Ibis hotel near Aldgate East station), I tried to save my pennies and go for the budget version. It was overall a good experience. Some people with heavy suitcases may struggle to get up the stairs to then get to the lift. Reception is on the first floor. Staff were very friendly and explained things well though I didn’t need to put my passport number on a form in any other Ibis I’ve stayed at. That aside, I was pleasantly surprised at the free Wi-Fi on offer (though it was temperamental, but free).

The room has an interesting layout. The shower and sink were incorporated in the room leaving little privacy. The toilet had no lock and the walls were thin so everything could be heard in there. However, this is in the pictures on the website, so we went in with our eyes open. Although there was a temperature control, it seemed to make the room colder when we turned it up. However, the beds were warm (though I didn’t like the separating head board making it difficult to see my roomie when lying down). The television had many channels but had an annoying pop-up message that wouldn’t go away, making it difficult to watch, but you get used to it. The room itself was always spotless.

As a base camp, it was in a good location in East London and not too far from the station (either Aldgate East or Whitechapel). I would stay here again as the prices were very reasonable if booked in advance.
