“Lovely place to stay”
Reviewed September 30, 2013 via mobile

We booked to stay at Rhodes Avenue primarily for its proximity to Alexandra Palace, this proved to be a good plan as we enjoyed a leisurely short walk back after the concert we attended. However, our stay ended up ticking many more boxes too; a beautifully comfortable and spotless room and bathroom in a peaceful location with kind and friendly hosts. The breakfasts were tasty and it was so nice to have the use of the breakfast room throughout the day too. Rhodes Avenue also proved to be a great location from which to explore Muswell Hill, Highgate and Hampstead Heath. We certainly enjoyed exploring this area of London which was new to us and we managed to fit in tours of Highgate Cemetry and National Trust property '2 Willow Road' both of which were interesting and informative. Would definitely recommend Rhodes Avenue as a lovely place to stay.

We (my husband and I) stayed at Rhodes Avenue B&B for 2 weeks, their reputation surpassed #1 – it’s an ‘A+++++++…’ Our stay with them was a very pleasant one and we couldn't recommend their B&B more highly. It’s definitely ‘a home away from home’!

It’s all started with our reservation enquiry, we were responded to immediately. We had several communications before we arrived in London. We were warmly greeted by Haya and Elli upon arrival with some nice English tea and homemade cookies.

The room was lovely, extremely clean and comfortable bed, the room was decorated tastefully and lovely fresh flowers were put in the room throughout our stay. They provided lovely breakfasts, with so many different choices, fruits were nicely displayed and homemade bread was served throughout our stay. Their breakfasts could hold us throughout the day. Guests were also provided with their own kitchenette that we could enjoy a cup of tea/coffee with homemade cookies after our long day outings. We had many great and fun conversations with our hosts and the other guests.

Their location is perfect for anyone who wants to commute to Central London, Train Stations etc. We spent the first week touring London and the second week we went out to different areas via trains and this B&B was so convenient that we were there in no time. On one specifically long trip, they made us a lovely breakfast package so we could take it and eat it on the train, what a caring couple!

This B&B is close to many essentials - there is a pub around the corner plus other bistros and restaurants. If you want to head up to Muswell Hill, there is a bus ride of less than 10 mins and there are many restaurants, shops for you to look around. For the golfers, the Muswell Hill Golf Course is only a 2 mins walk, didn’t play the course this time but looks like it’s in good shape.

Haya and Elli were truly generous with conversations, food and friendship. Thank you so much!!

Room Tip: Both rooms are good.

Me and my wife have stayed at Rhodes Avenue Homestay B&B for 6 nights during our last visit to London, we have stayed in lot's of B&B's/Hotels before but this one simply felt like our second home thanks to Elli & Haya brilliant hospitality.

The Location -
The B&B is located in a quiet & pastoral location in the northern part of London (just near Alexandra palace) and is linked well to the center with public transport, the closest station is Bounds Green which is located on the main Tube line (Piccadilly line).

The Rooms -
The rooms are very clean and have plenty of space with all the comfort you might require.
The B&B is located in a very quiet street so good sleep quality is guaranteed.

The Food -
WOW! The breakfast is very varied and tasty and include self made bread, berries, fruits, different sorts of cheese... simply everything you can think of :)

Elli & Haya have made all the efforts to make our London visit unforgettable. We will be back for sure.

*My husband and I stayed here five nights in August, Room 1.*

There are several reasons this B&B is so highly rated, but the best reason is the people who own it! Elli and Haya were so welcoming, friendly, and accommodating (all the usual things people say), but they were mostly just GOOD people with great conversation and advice. We adore them and were so sad to say good-bye. Though we weren't absolutely convinced from our experience in London that we needed to return soon, we want to go back to at least say hello to them. (We miss you!)

As for the lodging, it is like staying in someone's beautiful home (which you are), but with a beautiful lush garden and fresh flowers in your room and toilet daily (thanks Haya). It is clean and comfy and we stayed in room 1 with the ensuite which was lovely. Even the TV is beautiful! We enjoyed having tea in our room and watching a little mystery movie before bed. We wish we had more time to hang out in the garden, but the times we did were so relaxing and enjoyable. Meeting their son was a bonus! (Like I said, it was like staying with friends - we would visit if we lived closer.)

The breakfast bit of this b&b was amazing! Abundant fresh fruit, lovely home baked breads (thanks again Haya!), gourmet eggs (thank you Elli!) cooked fresh as you wish, delicious cheeses we had to ask about, juice, coffee, tea... so much! Not just a continental breakfast, mind you. It was really too much. They outdo themselves here, waiting on you until you are satisfied, then sending you off with either advice, directions, oyster cards, or even a ride to wherever you need to go.

If you are looking to stay in the hub of London, this is not the place. However, if you'd like to stay in a comfortable, safe, quiet area with shops and a pub around the corner, and don't mind walking a block to catch the bus, go a couple stops to the tube station, and take the Piccadilly line wherever in London you wish to go, don't bother looking for any other place. This is it.

Bonus: Lots of street parking if you hire a car for day trips, too!

Room Tip: Room 1 has a beautiful ensuite, with views of the garden!

Elli and Haya, thank you for making our stay so memorable. From the moment we arrived from South Africa, you made sure all our needs were taken care of, and when my 17yr old son, 70 yr old Mom & dad went missing at 11pm at night in London you and Haya were absolutely amazing! Your advise, knowledge and service were top noch! Thank you for the amazing breakfasts too, it's true, your scrambled eggs are the best in the world! The little things - fresh flowers from your garden in the bedrooms, fresh water and the kitchen facilities being available 24/7 just makes you feel at home instantly. Will never stay anywhere else again!
