Travelodge London Excel Hotel
Ranked #355 of 1,081 Hotels in London
Reviewed October 9, 2013

It's a normal travel lodge, it's main benefit is it is very near excel.
Breakfast was expensive for the limited food on option. Rooms were very hot and noisy but then it is near the airport and they had provided fans. Staff cheerful and helpful but a little stretched.

I stayed with my family at this hotel. I selected this hotel, because it came with free PARKING spaces. They offered us a suitable family room which we
really appreciated.

As a big plus was the provision of tea and coffee facility incl cups, spoons, tea etc. Room was accommodated with TV. The room itself was CLEAN
and spacious, however the modern bathroom a bit too small. The beds
were very comfortable. :)

The downside was that our room was located on the 3rd floor, so we had to
use a lift for up and down. In total it was a great stay.

Came here twice in September with 3 mates, and will be back in October. They have upgraded the look of this Travelodge which is so much better than the others. The room was clean, the bathroom was spotless and the bed was extra comfy (New spleepeeze beds I think they call them). The only thing that was a pain was the fact that there are usually only 3 or 4 staff on site so when it gets busy in the cafe at night and you want to order food (even in the day) you'll find yourself waiting 45 minutes or so! Seriously annoying -_- Other then that the location is very peaceful and it's great for a little chill out with friends or alone.

Room Tip: Order your food way ahead of time!

Left it a bit late to book a hotel for Excel visit and Travelodge was closest option. Room was fine but had to keep window closed due to noise from DLR and City Airport. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast a bit disappointing and many tables were left uncleared . Location could be intimidating for single traveller without transport returning late at night.

Room Tip: Request a room to rear of the building.

There is nothing special with Travelodge, which is a decent hotel. The mattresses are very comfortable. The staff was polite and the rooms were clean. You have to bring your own soap and shampoo. The (British) breakfast was standard. It is 10mins from the Excel convention center, which is the main local attraction. It is a bit far from the touristic attractions. I found the hotel very affordable during the week, but too expensive during the week-end.

Stayed here with good lady whilst doing a show and very clean and parking not an issue. Handy for the Docklands light railway but they would insist on blasting everyone sitting in the breakfast area with some 'wonderful' football and as this is the second review submitted for this venue I shall be politer that previously when I say that we could have done without this.
The food itself was very good.
Presumably some fan took objection to my previous submission and it was expunged.
No need for this noise whoever the 'editor' is will no doubt be astonished to learn that are a large number of people out there who are not fans and never will be.
Be careful not to confuse this Travelodge with with the London city airport one which is much older and getting run down.
Was only provided with a single set of towels even though it was double booking however.

Room Tip: Check to make sure you have all your towels if in a double before you get undressed and do not forge...

Have avoided this budget chain for some time as hotels seemed tired and with inferior facilities to other budget hotels. I was pleasantly surprised to find their standard much improved. The room was fine clean with a very comfortable new bed and pristine bathroom. Staff were very friendly and attentive.Bar a bit spartan and the cleaner seems to have missed the lifts but overall a good experience at an attractive price.
