Owner description: The RAF Benevolent Fund is proud and privileged to be the custodian of the new Bomber Command Memorial in central London. The memorial has been built to be modern, yet classical, in Portland stone. At its heart are the bronze sculptures of a Bomber Command aircrew. Within the memorial, the space is open to the sky with an opening designed to allow light to fall directly onto sculptures of the aircrew.

What a stunning tribute to these incredibly brave men, and the little tributes that have been left around the memorial are truly touching. Somehow, the fact that the memorial is in a relatively understated place adds to the humility that one feels whilst there.

“Nice memorial”

We stopped of here while walking around London. The memorial has been created in very intricate detail and it was in a nice area to think and reflect.

“Not that easy to find”
Reviewed June 14, 2013

We lost our uncle during the war, he was a bomb aimer in a Lancaster and was shot down over France just after his 21st birthday, so this visit was a pilgrimage which had to be made.

“Trip to London”

This is a superb Monument. It was very touching. Some people have written cards and left them on areas around the side of the monument commemorating events such as The Dambusters Raid. It was memorable and well worth a visit.

“Truly touching”
Reviewed June 11, 2013 via mobile

This is a beautiful memorial to very very brave men, my great uncle was in bomber command but died a week before this memorial was unveiled so our visit was to pay tribute to him and all those who flew with him. Perfect location and design for sitting and reflecting.
