Owner description: The RAF Benevolent Fund is proud and privileged to be the custodian of the new Bomber Command Memorial in central London. The memorial has been built to be modern, yet classical, in Portland stone. At its heart are the bronze sculptures of a Bomber Command aircrew. Within the memorial, the space is open to the sky with an opening designed to allow light to fall directly onto sculptures of the aircrew.

We were in Uk for a month and found this memorial to Bomber Command striking. it was just dedicated this year by the Queen. We visited it couple times. It is best viewed late afternoon with suns rays coming thru. We left a short rememberance of a young Pilot cousin of my wife's - Shields Norton. He was shot down over the North Sea and did not survive the crash.

My wife and I visited this memorial on the 28th December 2012.

This memorial stands out unlike any other I have visited.
As a whole its a fantastic piece of architecture, understated but breathtaking.

The centerpiece is 7 aircrew standing in very natural poses, the detail is fantastic and my wife and I just stood and admired not only the very deserving sentiment displayed but the workmanship involved in this masterpiece.

The memorial is impressive day or night, rain or shine.

Do not miss if your in London.

This is a beautiful memorial to all of those who sacrificed so much. The personal tributes left by families and comrades showing old photos of the squadrons are particularly touching.

Before heading on to Buckingham Palace to view the Changing of Guard session at 11:30 am, u can plan your visit to the Bomber Command Memorial a little earlier then have a stroll in Green Park toward Buckingham Palace. It's good to let them understand more of the peace we enjoy today and it came with a price. A special tributes to those 55,000 RAF members who lost their lives during the WW2.

We visited the memorial a few days after Remembrance Day, and the centre was covered with photographs and stories about some of the crews. Forget Bomber Harris just pay respects to the 55000 aircrew who lost their lives
