Owner description: The RAF Benevolent Fund is proud and privileged to be the custodian of the new Bomber Command Memorial in central London. The memorial has been built to be modern, yet classical, in Portland stone. At its heart are the bronze sculptures of a Bomber Command aircrew. Within the memorial, the space is open to the sky with an opening designed to allow light to fall directly onto sculptures of the aircrew.

“an overwelming experience”
Reviewed November 20, 2012

I made a point of coming to see this with my mum in july. We had first gone to Buckingham palace and this is just a few minutes up the road in green park by hyde park corner. this would have been worth our travel up from brighton without going to buck house. The sun was shining and it was very peaceful there even with picaddily nearby. many people were sat or standing around just taking in the prescence of this wonderful memorial. Be prepared.... it is very emotional! Lots of wreaths, flowers and other tributes are placed all around. Please take the time to read peoples thoughts and memories.... this will put all your own problems into perspective. this is a must if you are in town.

“A very moving memorial, long overdue.”
Reviewed November 20, 2012

Very moving memorial that is well worth a look if your in London. I spent a few quiet minutes here to reflect on those of the RAF that lost thier lives here, sad that Bomber Command have only just recieved this fitting tribute but they have it now. Additionally it's not too far from Buckingham Palace and set in the beautiful Green Park too. The Hard Rock Cafe is just across the street.

“Overwhelming”
Reviewed November 19, 2012

I visited the long-awaited Bomber Command memorial at the height of the Olympics, when London was buzzing with an electric feel-good atmosphere. Upon reaching the memorial, however, an overwhelming feeling of reverence descended as all those present were silent. The effect of veneration this memorial had on people of all ages was astounding and deeply moving.

The memorial itself is wonderfully crafted, with the exhaustion and emotion of these young airmen beautifully cast in their bronze expressions.

A superbly fitting tribute to the 55.573 Bomber Crew who never returned. Lest we forget.

“Memorial Worth Visiting”
Reviewed November 19, 2012

Wanted to see this memorial as all the recent publicity around it. Found it very emotional as all the messages and tributes and photo's of the young servicemen, from Rememberence Sunday were still there. Was really pleased we visited and remembered our fallen.
