“very nice stay friendly staff”
Reviewed October 30, 2012

we arrived in London for a concert and deceided to stay over, we had not booked a hotel and we liked the look of the hyde park radnor hotel, we asked if they had a room which they did and the price was reduced by 20 pounds for a late booking, the man on the desk was very helpful and looked on the internet for us and gave us directions to a la tasca restaurant in victoria. The hotel was very close to paddington station and the area had a lot of restaurants and a nice pub the pride of paddington. The room we had at the front was big enough for my husband and I as it was a bed for the night, the room was clean with fresh towels and bedding. The street which was at the front was very quiet at night and we slept comfortably. The breakfast was a basic cooked breakfast with tea and toast which was hot and nice. We would stay again.

4 gold, twinkling stars for the Hyde Park Radnor Hotel, our home-away-from-home in London. This is a really nice small hotel, run by a group of professional, courteous and very competent people who always go out of their way to be of help and to make our stays there go smoothly. The location is the best and the hotel is quiet and restful.

4 stars!

Our first trip to London for 8 nights, we stayed at the Hyde Park Radnor Hotel mainly for its close proximity to Paddington Station which is where the Heathrow Express train goes to. The hotel is only a sort 5 minute walk from the station, there are also many restaurants and pubs close by. Hyde Park is also a short 5 minute walk from the hotel. The neighborhood is relatively quiet compared with other London neighborhoods, also felt very safe here even in the evening. The hotel itself is small, perhaps better described as a Bed & Breakfast, regardless, the service was excellent and helpful. The rooms are a bit small but very adequate for 2 people, beds were comfortable, bathroom was adequate. Breakfast is included and features a full English breakfast. Would stay here again.

Hyde Park Radnor Hotel is one of a number of hotels in the Paddington / Bayswater area of London that seem incapable of having just a single name. I don't know if they think this makes them sound more impressive but don't be fooled - it's another London hotel. That said, if your aim in finding a London hotel is somewhere not too expensive to sleep and / or stash your shopping, you can do a lot worse than this one. It's clean, the beds are comfy, the bedrooms are decent sized (for Central London) and the location is handy for Paddington. The staff at reception were helpful and proffered a variety of free maps of Central London. There is also fast Wifi that worked well in my room, right at the top of the hotel. I didn't try the breakfast.

That's the plus points. Bad points - well, the hotel has the same decor as pretty much every other chain hotel in London - that sort of dated orange and yellow themed colour scheme. The stairs are uneven, quite a few areas in corridors etc looked like they needed a lick of paint and the sign for the breakfast room looked like a prop from Fawlty Towers. Definitely due a bit of a refurb, but this doesn't affect the quality of the stay.

Overall it's fine. Really though, how on earth does this place have four stars? Only the Tourist Board can say. I do associate four stars with having some element of luxury or wow factor, and I'm afraid the Hyde Park Radnor doesn't have this.

This hotel is just 3-4 blocks from Paddington station & underground (serviced by the Circle and District lines) so it is very convenient to public transportation. There are several really good restaurants on Sussex Place as well (Mughal's for Indian and Kolossi for Greek to name two.) The hotel does provide a hot breakfast which is quite good. As for the rooms, be prepared for them to be small ... some extremely small ... but clean and comfortable. There is no A/C so ask for a fan if it is hot out. The major drawback for us was the bathroom: the tub was extremely slippery and the floor was ceramic tile (also slippery when wet.) It would have been nice to have a tub mat but placing a towel in the tub helped some. The staff were very nice and helpful. Overall, we would stay there again.

We fancied a few days in London and, at the last minute, booked the Hyde Park Radnor. Excellent decision. When we arrived, we were welcomed and check in was quick and easy. The receptionist couldn't have been more pleasant and accommodating, he went as far as to ask us how familiar we were with London and whether he could assist in directing us. The hotel itself is in a perfect location- all the benefits of central London in a very quiet street. The hotel is just a 3 minute walk from Paddington station, however due to the excellent location of the hotel we didn't actually take the underground at all- instead, we explored on foot each day. The hotel is just a 5 minute walk in the other direction to Oxford Street.

Our triple room was small and very cosy, but perfectly adequate for our needs. The hotel manages to find the balance between luxury and practicality in a small space. The beds were SO comfortable. Really, really good, with 3 pillows each. Furthermore, the shower was super.

I have noticed a number of reviews on here which insult the quality of the breakfast. I really couldn't see where these were coming from! Granted, the continental breakfast didn't present a great selection, there was no cold meats or continental breads on offer. However, we felt that the English (cooked) breakfast was superb, really tasty, and set us up well for our day in London. The waitress couldn't have been more accommodating and paid attention to detail, bringing us more toast when we had finished etc.

The breakfast room is in the basement of the hotel and is very, very warm. For the first day of our stay, we put up with this, but on the second day it was even hotter. However, the waitress noticed my mother fanning herself with a napkin and opened the windows. What a relief!

Overall, a highly enjoyable stay, we will certainly return!

The staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful (we were let into our rooms early and they looked after our luggage after we checked out). The breakfast was nothing special but, again, there was nothing wrong with it either. The rooms were comfortable, fairly quiet, and adequately furnished. The price was reasonable considering the relatively central London location. I would consider staying again if I was in the area.
