“Citizen M for Mod”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 26, 2013 via mobile

Citizen M London Bankside is by far the coolest and most unusual place I’ve ever stayed in. The decor is awesome; a random mix of furniture and designs. The bar, dining and courtyard areas are just bursting with colour and feel welcoming and relaxed. The books that line the walls can be read downstairs or brought to your room and are available to buy should you fancy it. There are iMacs for use by all guests and you can print off anything you need without much fuss. The staff are extremely helpful, efficient and friendly and on a Friday night the bar is a very lively spot, certainly not your ordinary hotel bar.

The rooms, though small, are like Japanese pods designed to perfection with a big comfy bed, minimalist decor and a nifty way of making the smallest space functional. Each room is equipped with a tablet from which you can control the TV (small selection of free movies on demand), mood lighting and radio. The rooms are spotless, cosy, free from clutter and the changeable mood lighting in the bathroom is rather entertaining.

London is a very pricey place for accommodation in general and while this hotel was more expensive than somewhere in another capital city it was still cheaper than other less interesting, welcoming and unusual hotels in London. Go and be prepared to be ever so impressed!

After my second time staying in this very modern hotel, I'd like to give my opinion, hoping that can help other people in the hotel selection.
The structure is very modern, but it has been built with a very warm touch. The hall with the several areas ( library, fireplace, TV, bar) it's so relaxing.
Rooms are a bit narrow, but the bed is a real king size. Lots of amenities, including a large selection of movies. Everything (lights, wake up, tv, and so on) is through a tablet.
Rooms are cleaned deeply every day.
Staff is also very well trained, very helpful and on top of it, always smiling (which nowadays is something that in many places is unknown).
Breakfast is also ok ( as I'm italian, I'd like to have only a slightly more variety of sweet stuff)
Therefore I truly recommend this place, either when you are alone or for a romantic week end.
Keep going !!

On paper this looked like a bit of a gamble. In reality, it was a great place to stay. Excellent design, fantastic bed(!), friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere, fun times.... Would definitely recommend....

Diner: oh my! Nice and easy.

often time a boutique hotel is a cover-up for a small room with some lamps left over from christmas decorations. THIS IS NOT THE CASE! there is a concept. IT works. The room is small but everything that matters works well - the shower is great, the walls keep you quiet, the tv selection is great, the bed is outstanding and there is that extra concept in the hotel which looks like its doomed to be ridiculous and oddly enough it works out well. The lobby is a great place to get together and there are people there all times of day. you come to London to be out and not in the hotel, but coming back from our weekend getaway - the hotel was registered as one of the experiences the city had to offer.

Room Tip: all rooms are the same

Stayed for a few nights each time and we have been back several times already. Its informal, relaxed, has a nice lounge and bar area. Its also well located and reasonably priced relative to the other hotels in the area. Staff are efficient and very friendly. The booking process is easy and flexible and we would stay again when in the area. We also used the Hilton at Tower Bridge with a slightly better location but its twice the price so CitizenM wins out every time.

We chose CitizenM Bankside after reading the positive reviews and looking for a hotel close to the Borough Market area. It fitted the bill beautifully, giving us a small, but perfectly formed room with all mod cons (extremely comfy bed,but quite difficult to get in and out of if you're the one sleeping side on to the window!) and a lively and interesting hotel lobby area where we could sit, read, drink coffee (very good too!), sip a wine or two and generally enjoy ourselves people watching! The breakfast was all that you'd need to set you up for a day mooching around the city...good quality hot and cold food on offer from 6.30-11.00am. All the staff, or Ambassadors as they like to be called, were really helpful and chatty. This hotel's proximity to Tube stations and the river made it a really good choice, and we recommend it....we would definitely stay there again!

Room Tip: We had read that the rooms facing the inner courtyard, as opposed to the main road would be quieter...
