“Good, basic hotel”

This hotel is good value. It is very basic but for the price you should expect nothing more. We stayed one night whilst on a short trip to London. This hotel was good for us as it is very close to Homerton Overground station which is in zone 2 meaning you could travel into central London using the Travelcards which we would need to have purchased in any event.

Had been booked in to this hotel(?) by my company while working at the Olympic village. The first night of a 4 night stay was in a single room with a shared bathroom. The room was approx 12ft x 6ft the wardrobe had no doors and was in gerneral pretty tired looking.
Went across the hall to the shower room/toilet to find the ceiling hanging down and the shower looked disgusting.Used aother one in another part of the hotel the shower wasn't tht much better to be honest, the screen didn't actually meet the walls that much.
No coffee/tea making facilities in the room but were able to help yourself in the kitchen, which had mouse traps and mouse droppings on the floor between the kitchen units and fridge.Fridge also contained a lot of stuff (presumably the staffs ?) which wasn't very well wrapped and was quite smelly.
I checked out after the first night.I don't want 5 star just a decent place to stay.

Room Tip: Don't stay in room 106 or use the toilet opposite !

This is a budget hotel, but still overpriced and plenty of room for improvement to become a cleaner, safer place to stay. Location is a bit far from city centre, but close to Homerton overground station and buses. Initially staff overcharged us (claiming we hadn't paid for the room yet when we had the voucher receipt with us), but the manager was very friendly and had no issue refunding. Room had mousetraps and mouse poison in the corners on the floor. Older, cheap furniture and carpet. Our room was very cold (4th floor) as the attic opening in the hall was left open to "air out" the whole stay. Showers on our floor did not work, didn't have an issue finding unused bathrooms in the morning though on other floors. Some were very dirty. Shared Kitchen was small but able to cook anything and store food in the fridge. Adjacent lounge was nice. Breakfast was toast, juice and cereal. Instant coffee and tea. Junk in the hallways and staircases. In my opinion, it needs to be renovated everywhere, cleaned up, and taken more seriously as a budget hotel/hostel/guesthouse (whatever it's supposed to be) by management and staff.

Room Tip: WiFi doesn't work on the 3rd and 4th floors

Some of the review for this place are unfair. This is a BUDGET HOTEL. If you expect more, then you can expect to pay more.
My girlfriend and I stayed here 3 nights and were quite happy.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and warm, and the breakfast was fine.

If you are just looking for a clean, quiet place to sleep then this is ideal. Otherwise, there's always The Ritz.

Room Tip: The rooms closer to reception have better wifi signal.

Bed linen was clean. Check-in staff friendly. Breakfast adequate. Um. That's it. Room carpet oily and dirty, trash box overflowing, shared bathroom with banging door, trash bag failing to cover a broken bathroom window, dirty shower, no soap, exposed pipes, no towels. We stayed cos it was near the Olympic Park....neighboring houses have protest posters in their windows about this hostel. It isn't even CALLED The Silk House on the grilled, security-locked doors. An Olympic cash-in methinks.

Room Tip: Don't.
