Stayed in this hotel as a couple for five nights in mid-June. We didn't really know what to expect before arrival because of some reviews on this website, but our stay was really flawless.

On arriving at the hotel we paid the balance on our account before being offered help with our cases and shown to our room. The public areas of the hotel were very tidy, nicely decorated and felt very fresh. Our room wasn't massive but a good size with it had two large bay windows so lots of light. The room was next to the road which I thought might stop me from sleeping but I had no problems and earplugs were provided if you need them.

Daily service was excellent, the maid never failed to turn up and the one time she arrived when we were in the room she was very polite and said she would come back later, no problem. Clean towels every day, tea and coffee facilities replenished, beds made and bathroom cleaned. There was a mini-fridge in the room which was very handy for keeping milk as there are no breakfast facilities in the hotel, though several times we went out for a breakfast to cafés.

The hotel is also very close to Clapham South tube station and lots of bus links on the road. There are lots of amenities in the area but Clapham town centre which was about a 15 minute walk away or two minutes in the tube (Clapham Common) had some lovely cafés and coffee shops. Overall a lovely stay in this hotel and would recommend to anyone.

I stayed at the Gateway Hotel Saturday 20th July, just for 1 night and paid £75 for a double room. I was expecting the room to be very low budget for this price, but was very pleasantly surprised!
The room was immaculate, and had a really lovely bathroom with shower, basin and toilet, and was a really nice touch that they had put out a nice shower gel (full new bottle) for us.as well as the usual shower caps and soaps etc.
The bedroom had a mini fridge that came in very handy and because the weather had been so hot, there was a fan for my use in the room... all really nice touches1
There was also a flat screen tv in the room.
The location was literally just a few minutes walk from Clapham South Tube station, so if you wanted to visit London.. this is the Hotel for you!
Incidentally, it is right near a Sainsburys , restaurants and M & S, so you could take drinks back with you to put in the fridge!
I will definitely be going back here next time I visit my relatives.

A group of us (two couples) stayed here recently. For London the rooms were a good size and clean. The staff were also helpful. It is about 200m from the tube (northern line) for sightseeing and close to Clapham High St for nights out. For anyone who doesn't want to pay extortionate prices in the city centre I would definately recommend this hotel!

An excellent location but didn't get off to a good start when despite having paid they wanted all our card details including security number in case we lost the key. On leaving they wouldnt return details saying they had already destroyed them. Why do this prior to checking out ? The rooms were clean and functional but it is a conversion and the thin plaster board between rooms meant you could hear everything from adjoining rooms. There was no mirror in room apart from one in the bathroom so ladies very poor facilities for hair and make up.
Final straw was the heal of my new shoes disappearing into the Lino floor due to holes in the floor boards. Not the best place to stay.

OK so what I mean is relative to the price so for the price I paid it was excellent. The room had plenty of tea, coffee, biscuits and kettle etc. was very clean and so were the bed clothes. There was no cooked breakfast or dinner but it is right next to a great eatery ' Avalon'. The most important needs were more than met even ear plugs in case you are a light sleeper ( a nice thought). For the price it is better than expected and as we were doing the London - Brighton bike ride it was only 400 meters from the start.

Room Tip: Try and ask for a room not on the road (front of hotel)

My wife and I stayed in this hotel and we found it excellent value and convenient to all amenities.
There was some noise from traffic and the tube but it was not a major problem though it is possible that in other parts of the hotel it was. The room though small was very clean and the tea making facilities was a bonus. It is very close to Clapham South Tube.

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 5.

A lovely little hotel. The receptionist was very friendly and the room was a standard double with a wetroom style en-suite. But for only £75 it was a bargain especially as amenities such as tea/biscuits, towels and radical showergel were provided for less than the cost of a travelodge. It's only 2min from clapham south underground or 5min from balham station. The underground does pass under the hotel however it is not loud and didn't prevent me from sleeping soundly.
