“Great Location, Lovely Room”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 12, 2013

We stayed in this B&B for 4 nights on our recent visit to London. The location was perfect, it was easy to find and only a 2 minute walk to the tube station which took us to wherever we wanted to be in central London easily. There is also a great range of shops, cafes and restaurants nearby in Fulham. The room itself was a good size, well designed, comfortable and clean. The small kitchen area outside the room was convenient and it was nice to be able to grab some juice and a pastry for breakfast. Would recommend this B&B.

Looking for a convenient option to visit the recent tennis championships at the Queen's Club, we struck lucky with the discovery of Barclay House. A short tube ride to Barron's Court and we were at the main gate of the Queen's Club, so ideal. Alternatively, we were well positioned for the main attractions in central London. The area of Fulham Broadway has many quality options for cafes, restaurants, and gastro pubs and Barclay House is a five minute stroll from the underground station.
Our room was not the largest one available but was otherwise excellent and perfectly adequate if not carrying too much luggage. The room was spotlessly clean and very well designed and the small kitchenette outside the rooms had everything required for a casual breakfast and afternoon tea or coffee( Nespresso machine). Freshly prepared croissants, pain au raisin arrived each morning to start the day. Charlotte, the owner, was always on hand to offer excellent suggestions on eating options, both locally and in central London and help with any other queries, so we had our own first class concierge. Since our return we have recommended Barclay House to many friends and will definitely return at the next opportunity.

5-star guests who have travelled the world are always a pleasure to meet; amazing stories to share. Many thanks for your fabulous insider tips on places we'll be visiting later this year. Next time we hope that you'll have time for an evening drink on the roof terrace.

Lovely place: the single room might look a bit like a railway sleeper in layout but it is is fact very sensibly designed. Wonderful bed; have never slept so well in London. I like being able to make good coffee and grab juice and a croissant from the mini kitchen without having to wait for someone else to do it. Best of all Barclay Road is quiet but only a minute or two from the tube and buses; this really saves tired legs at the end of the day.

Business guests want quick access and best quality in pleasant surroundings; a challenge to find in London, especially for single travellers at this keen price point. So glad that we could provide exactly what you needed, with a touch of luxury too.

A great way to start our trip to London! The B&B was lovely and easy to find. Nice very quick walk to the tube station. Convenient food options of a wide variety all around within a very quick walk. Charlotte was quick to suggest some places to eat which ended up being some of the best food we had over our entire trip in England. Charlotte was also quick to offer some helpful tips that helped us better navigate the city, it was helpful to have an local viewpoint. We stayed in two different rooms during our 4 day stay and both were beautiful, clean and well stocked. Internet was provided and it was great to have that convenience and its speed was fast. There were also power converters in the rooms which was helpful as we came from the US. The bathrooms were beautiful, luxurious and contemporary, the heated towel racks were a cherry on top of a great bathroom. The fresh pastries and croissants, as well as espresso and tea in the kitchen was a wonderful perk as well. Depending on how heavy the Underground traffic was it took around 20-30 minutes to get into most of the touristy parts of London including walking to the station. Overall a great experience, was very pleased with the location, surroundings, and room.

This review says it all; super happy guests make our day! Thank you for pointing out all the many 'little' things that we provide that make a 'big' difference for our guests; in-room power/electrical converters, the best maps, the highest speed WiFi, and in-person advice every morning to steer you in the right direction. We appreciated being appreciated.
We'll be expanding our website soon with more travel tips, videos of major sites and theatre previews, as well as pre-planning options to help guests get even more out of their short days in London. Stay tuned to barclay house london

This was the perfect place to stay for my first experience in London especially as a solo traveler. The location and access to the tube can't be beat. The rooms are comfortable and the bath rooms are ultra-modern. Best of all the innkeepers are helpful and informative. I received accurate transportation and travel advice on all of my many requests. I would not hesitate to stay here again and I thought the rates were quite reasonable.

Room Tip: All the rooms are large enough and even the smallest single is quite comfortable for one.

What a pleasure it was to assist this enthusiastic guest who ventured as far as the seaside White Cliffs, by train--50 minutes away--, and as close as the very sought-after Cigars Unlimited specialist shop, around the corner, to savour Cuban creations in the clear air of our local park at the end of the road.

We arrived at Barclay House early in the morning of the 5th March and stayed for 4 nights and returned on 18th March and stayed for a further 3 nights. The location of Barclay House is ideal in that you can walk to the train station and bus stops within a couple of minutes. There are 2 supermarkets within 2 to 3 minutes walk.

The room was beautifully appointed and the ensuite was new and fresh and included heated towel rails. The room was serviced each day which was not expected. We stayed in the double room with ensuite which was a little small but according to my daughter not small for London and was certainly larger than a hotel room that we stayed in on a previous visit to the UK. The bed was obviously new and was very firm and there were lots of pillows.

There was a kitchenette just outside which had lovely nespresso coffee and tea, milk as well as pastries, toast, crumpets, butter, jams and other spreads. There was a dishwasher, small fridge and microwave also. We are gluten free and they did provide some cereal on our second stay but we bought gluten free bread and crumpets from the supermarket and toasted those for breakfast on the days we did not go out for breakfast.

My husband had to do some business while staying at Barclay House and the WiFi was brilliant and fast!

Overall we enjoyed staying at Barclay House and would definitely stay there if we went back to London.

Guests who stay twice in a few weeks are the best compliment we can ask for! So many guests appreciate the close proximity (1-minute walk) of the extensive 'specialist foods' (fresh and packaged) at 3 major grocery stores, as well as a major health food store, and street market for gluten-free, vegan, organic, no additives and other 'free from' foods; 'heaven' one guest exclaimed!

I had a wonderful stay in this beautiful, clean B&B in London's Fulham neighborhood. Close to the tube station and mini-mart/mall and approximately 30 minutes from Heathrow. Stayed in the single en suite room, which was the perfect size for me, with a full size/single bed, shower, toilet, wardrobe closet, and slim desk with flat screen tv and small reading lights attached to the wall, it could not have been more cozy and warm during an unusually cold March. Also, to note from my review, upon arrival at Heathrow, I had a cold and could not stop coughing the first few days in the city. But, with the close proximity of hot tea, warm croissants, bread, and an espresso machine in the shared kitchenette area right outside my door, I was in very good hands for my four nights. The kitchen area was perfect, as one could enjoy tea and coffee in the morning, before outings to the city, then returning at night with food from nearby, or to have water, tea, or wine, while staying inside. Particularly enjoyed the wonderful conversation of the other guests and the lovely hosts of the Barclay House. They were gracious, witty hosts, interested in their guests, with knowledge of London's attractions and distractions, readily available. I also had the good fortune to be invited to enjoy my take out/away dinner one night next to a warm fireplace. I cannot get over the wonderful hospitality of the hosts, Charlotte and Adrian. They allowed plenty of space and privacy for guests, too, as far as when one would go during the day, checking in a few times, but generally staying in their house/room upstairs. For my stay, it was the perfect combination of interest and concern in my well-being or if I had any questions, alternatively, allowing me to find what was needed from the numerous maps and suggestions for London, in the provided books, news articles, and highlighted information. On my last day, Charlotte graciously provided a large bag that could be used for my extra travel items. After this B&B. I stayed for a few days in a hotel near my friends in the city, but I very much missed my room with the extra amenities. It was a wonderful design, completely clean, and stylish for the price point and area. I am hopeful that next time I visit London, will not have to deal with my cold and perhaps, it will be warmer outside. It was a true pleasure to stay here and will never forget it. Thank you.

Room Tip: If alone, the single room is perfectly sized. The shower has a warming towel rack, which was perfect...

Highest praise from a real New Yorker is indeed the best compliment. Such a nice guest, open to new suggestions about London 'corners', as well as our recommendation for a private doctor in the neighbourhood! We look forward to your return when we hope that you can enjoy a drink on our summer roof terrace.
