“Very good business hotel”
Reviewed June 29, 2013

I stayed here one night on business. If you are working in Canary Wharf its perfect. Its a hundred meters from the heart, very close to the transport links to central London, and the Canary Wharf shopping mall. The rooms are very nice, although not much of a view. The staff are friendly and well trained. You can't really go wrong as a business hotel. Breakfast was slightly limited in choice, but the setting was great, in the bistro restaurant. Recommended.

Excellent hotel! Much better than what I would usually go for, but got an amazing deal. The service and standard was extremely high, polite and friendly staff. The bed in the room was bigger than Japan and really comfortable. The breakfast in the morning was straight out of the top drawer, eat as much as you like, continental, full english, fruit, cereal, you name it, they did it. Location was perfect for us as it's only a 5 minute walk from Canary Wharf tube station and the Jubilee Line, or 30 seconds from the DLR.

I stayed here whilst on a business trip where we were using the conference facilities.

I was pleasantly surprised at the size of my room which included a king size bed, a sofa, two chairs and a desk. I stay in a lot of hotels and am quite picky about details. This one had some nice touches that make a difference; slippers, dressing gown, proper hair dryer, scales in the bathroom, hangers that are not connected to the rail, bath salts, conditioner as well as shampoo, cotton wool, a good radio/alarm/iPod player, separate shower and bath. So little to complain about. I ordered a chicken Caesar from room service and it was perfect, just why I needed. The AC was quiet and responsive and my room quiet.

The perfect location if you are visiting Canary Wharf where there are plenty of options vis a vis restaurants and bars.

I spent 2 nights recently at this hotel. The rooms were large and modern and the service excellent. Unfortunately they had overbooked the hotel and offered me a cab to a sister hotel. In the meantime I was given Executive Lounge access and breakfasts. In the end they found a room (executive level) and I moved there for my final night. Staff were very helpful and apologetic. The hotel is located some way out of the centre of the city in the business district, but easily reached by tube or DLR. For the room size it was very good value.

An amazing location for Canary Wharf - walking distance to the offices with a good variety of restaurants and bars nearby.

The beds were very comfortable and for the area, the rooms large enough. The only draw back was that the rooms are a bit musty and damp. My laundry came back clean and well pressed, but smelt damp by the time I got to it. The staff were fantastic, and quickly recognised you from your earlier interactions.

The Internet connection needs to be beefed up if you want to work from your room but given the location - it is easier to head back to the office to work and not bother in the hotel.

The location and poor quality of other hotels in the neighbourhood mean this is popular and so quite expensive for what it offers, but has been full the last few times I've tried to stay. That said - on the occasions that the price drops below the approved limit for our company, I'd choose this hotel over all others in the area.

If we didn't have to travel to the heart of London each day--sometimes twice a day, I would give this property five stars. The location--at Canary Wharf--is great if you stay local to the hotel. With the DLR or the Jubilee line, you can get to the heart of London in 15-20 minutes.

The staff is gracious and welcoming and the hotel offers you everything you would need or want for business or pleasure. The hotel service is always what differentiates a good hotel from a mediocre one and everyone we ran across was helpful and caring. The rooms and restaurants--like the hotel--are modern, with great views and excellent beds.

Value for money for a 5 star hotel in London?? Yes, it is possible with Marriott West India Quay. Do not let the distance to London Centre to put you off. DLR station is just at the door of the hotel, not around the corner, not some minutes walk - actually at the door. We stayed there with evening at Covent Garden Opera and didn't notice how we got back to the hotel after the end of the performance so convenient it was. Hotel itself is modern and clean (so if you are after "period drama" you probably need to look for another one) but staff makes all the difference. Friendly, efficient and very helpful. They do have a difficulty with breakfast room (restaurant) which is obviously small for such a big hotel but it is great how they work as a team to make sure all customers are happy. We liked our stay very much, the only problem was that our standard room didn't have a view which was a shame in Canary Wharf! So when you book, ask for a room with a view!
