“Comfortable Stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 23, 2012

My husband & i stayed at the hotel for 4 nights to attend the Star Trek convention at the adjacent Excel. We had a ground floor room which faced onto the main road, and even so there was very little traffic noise. The room was basic, spacious and comfortable. The only 1 comment of not being happy with our stay was the room temperature, which on the Thursday evening was way too hot, and a window required to be opened to allow for additional cooling and air. We found this solution to be fine for the remainder of our stay. Breakfast was more than adequate with a good variety of choice of Cereals, Yoghurts, Fresh Fruit, Croissants/Toast etc, plus you had the option of traditional English breakfast freshly cooked. Plenty of Tea/Coffee available. As with most hotels that are busy, breakfast time was a challenge for the staff, however as a previous Dining room manager i have to commend the head waiter/waitress for the excellent organisation of their staff to cope with the consistent ongoing rush, and at no time during my meals did i feel like i was being pushed out of the door to accomodate another body. We ate in the dining room for our evening meals Friday-Sunday, the menu was varied and the food was of a very high standard. Once again due to the hotel being full the Dining room staff had to cope with a lot of people needing fed after being at the convention all day, and due to this added pressure it was not all plain sailing, but the staff coped very well and managed to maintain a high excellence of customer service and remain polite at all times. Public transport is nearby the hotel, the DLR providing a route to London City Airport and Central London via Canning Town. The cost of a day travel card was £7.50 and could be used on all methods of transport around London within the relevant Zones. This is a hotel that we would consider returning to in the future and would recommend as a stay. Our only nightmare to the end of what was a really good stay & fabulous Star Trek Convention a cancelled early morning flight from City Airport due to the Fog.....

Room Tip: Rooms facing the main road appear to be a lot quiter.

I stayed for 2 nights to attend the Star Trek Convention at the Exel. I was greatly impressed with this hotel for quite a few reasons. All of the staff went out of their way to help. The rooms were clean and tidy. The bed was so big, I managed to get lost in it! The food was very good, but as I,m not a big eater, I did not take full advantage of the all you can eat breakfast! Only 1 quibble, it would have been nice to have a mini fridge in the room, to keep milk, sandwiches, etc.as the uht milk leaves a lot to be desired. But hey that,s just my opinion. Excellent hotel. If Star Trek is on next year, I will be back!

Stayed here as we visited the DSTL , Great location , near the tube and Excel i'd say 5 minute stroll. Room was clean ,house keeping can't be faulted . Shower in bathroom is wonderful. everything you'd need .staff were friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them and your always greeted with a smile . Food was ok and priced fairly. They offer evening and breakfast deals which are good, A nice bar downstairs and prices are fair.A great location to use as a base to visit London . Appeared quite child friendly for families. Large flat screen tv in room was a cool addition . I'd certainly stay there again , had a nice time and slept great , oh yes the beds are wonderful ....slept like a baby !

Stayed for 2 nights here on business. Major advantage for me was the large car park so that I could leave the car here and get into London via the DLR. (12.00 for the day)

5 min walk from the DLR which ran regularly and was actually a pleasant trip in even at rush hour.

Room really lovely, spacious immaculate and very modern. Mohammed on reception was a great character and very welcoming.

Food was really good and a reasonable price

Slight niggles were the wifi which despite me paying for the 24 hours for £3 was on and off all the time and I stopped trying after a while - thats £6 you owe me Premier!!
Another surprising annoyance was the attitude of one off the female restaurant staff who insisted on reminding me all the time loudly and abruptly that I had an allowance to spend and that was it - excuse me I am quite capable of paying for any additional extras I have and I don't want to be treated in some way as a second class guest.

Despite the above the rest of the staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble and I would certainly choose this hotel again in the near future

We stayed here as we were seeing a show at the O2 perfect location, on arrival very friendly receptionist and a lovely reception area, our room was lovely just what you want very clean bathroom and clean bedroom the new huge flat tv screens they have on the wall now are brilliant more room on the sides. We a had a little drink at the bar not too pricey before going to the O2 the loacation is really easy DLR line to Canning town then to the O2 perfect. The only little thing I would say which isn't Premier Inns fault is the lighting on the pathway from the tube to the hotel is a little dark. The breakfast and service just amazing self service but the guy who showed us to our table really funny and friendly. Will have no problems booking here again thank you.

We stayed here for four nights in August. We came down to London for a short family break with our daughter, and as my husband had stopped at this hotel before we thought it would make an ideal choice. The staff at this hotel were very friendly and could not do enough for you, nothing was ever too much trouble the service was just excellent from start to finish. The breakfast and evening meals were great too and again the service was fantastic. We stopped in a refurbished family room which was very comfortable and cleaned to a high standard every day. The DLR is also very close by so the hotel made a great location for us and we will definatley stay here again on our next trip to London.

Excellent stay on what was a busy conference week. The only thing that Premier Inn across the country can change (and Ive been to a few) is the smell of their towels- why do they smell like strong chemicals!!!

Room Tip: I was on the 6th floor, don't know about the other floors but this one was great
