“stay with family two rooms”
Reviewed September 18, 2013

good budget hotel very clean only negative breakfast area too small for size of hotel gets very crowded with lack of seating.
would use again but perhaps go out for breakfast.
also a bit far from central london if you are going for night in town £30.00 for cab back to hotel after midnight.
but right next to london city aiport, thames barrier, excel centre, new london cable car and O2 arena

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I have noted your comments about the breakfast area. Apologizes for the lack of information on this occasion, but we have an additional breakfast room which can be used when there is no seat available in the main lobby area.
I am delighted that you enjoyed your visit. I look forward to seeing you again in the near future.

We stayed for 3 nights in room 223. If you book online well in advance it can be an absolute steal when it comes to London hotels. We paid 38 pounds for a double room (sic!). The thing is you have to be aware that it's a BUDGET hotel located outside London center (zone 3). So do not expect frills, porters, fancy interior, etc. With that in mind I must say we were very satisfied with the quality - to be honest it even exceeded our expectations.

The room was not large but sufficient to accomodate 2 persons with 1 big suitcase. There's a comfortable bed, small table, tv on the wall, mirror, washbasin with mirrors and some place to hang your clothes. There's a separate toilet (clean) and separate - let's call it - shower box behind the glass door. It's minimalistic but functional. Only drawback was the wet floor because of the water after coming out of shower - the door opens into the room.

The breakfasts cost 4.95 pounds per person. It's continental what means: bread, toasts, one type of cold meats, croissants, butter, jam, honey, cereals, yoghurt etc. What I was missing was a hot dish e.g. scrambled eggs/omellet or sausages. But again - it's just a budget hotel.

Location: 10 minutes on foot to the DLR station, then it's 20 minutes by train to Bank (plus waiting for the train - in off-peak hours they go every 10 minutes). It was OK for us, but make your own calculations if it suits you. You'll be probably spending money on travelcards anyway so no extra cost here. One strange thing on the Pontoon Dock station: on 2 days in the evening the lights were out at the stairs from the train platform (the one closer to the hotel). Bit scary and we needed to step down very carefully. Have a small flashlight with you - just in case.

To sum it up: if you're on budget, need just a place to sleep, take a shower and spend your whole day sightseeing - that's a good place, especially if you can grab a good deal online.

Thank you for your kind comments and compliments. I have noted your comment about the shower's issues. Sorry for the lack of information on this occasion. Please to let you know that bath mats are available at the reception on request. I am delighted that you enjoyed your stay and I look forward to welcoming you back again soon.

Book as far ahead as you can and this hotel will give you a good price. I booked 6 weeks in advance and paid £69.00 for the night, room only.

Breakfast per person is £4.95 for a continental style breakfast (you know, croissants, bread, toast, cereal, yoghurt, tea, coffee and toast etc.). You can eat as much or as little as you wish.

The hotel does not have a restaurant but there is a plentiful supply in the surrounding area and the reception folks are very helpful, including calling taxis that never took more than 5 - 10 minutes to arrive.

The hotel does have a small bar and an outside area for the smokers. The inside area has melamine tables and chairs but this is OK.

This hotel is difficult to find - the GPS takes you to an ESSO garage on a roundabout at the Connaught Bridge/North Woolwich Road - the hotel is behind the garage but there are no signs available - turn in to the garage and it is signposted at the garage entrance.

Parking is at the hotel in a secure compound, and free of charge, it gets busy so make sure you arrive by late afternoon.

The folks on reception are amiable and efficient.

There is a lift in the hotel to access upper floors.

Rooms are compact, clean, well lit (various lighting options available) and very clean. There is air con but it is more of a cooler system than full air conditioning.

The rooms do not give you anything but soap and a towel, so bring your own (but you can get some at reception but they may charge). there are no hairdryers in the room, so again bring your own.

The rooms are double glazed and noise levels were not a problem.

All in all it was a pleasant experience for the price. If you want luxury, room service etc. then go elsewhere - but for London this is easy on the pocket.
