Clapham used to be a posh part of London (can you believe it?) many a-year ago but then suffered greatly in the last 50 years and went very downhill.
In the last 10 years, however, things have started looking up again. Definitel wouldn't say that it has the same boho vibe as some of the East End which is also being regenerated, but does offer something for most people for nightlife, shopping, and entertainment in SW London.
The Common is quite nice too, as far as London commons go and is worth a visit if you are in the area and enjoy that sort of thing.
