“Great for weekend break”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 8, 2014 via mobile

Stayed on a Saturday night. The hotel Is ideally situated both for the city area and Westb End.
Modern interior. Speedy check with very pleasant Receptionist. Accommodation of a high standard and very well maintained. The breakfast was good.
All staff very pleasant.
Only one negative point. You have to pay for WiFi usage.

My family of 4 enjoyed this hotel. We had 2 separate rooms, one on the 5th floor which was smaller but nicely bright and contemporary & newly remodeled. The other was termed "an upgrade" on the 6th floor, which had a larger size corner space with lots of windows, however it was more dated with old dark wood furniture. Both overall were good values for the price paid for lodging in downtown London. The front desk staff was overall friendly yet when we checked it it was painfully slow. It seems like they bring in people from other countries to learn about checking in people and they don't have all the details down pat.
Some appealing amenities in the suite were a kettle for tea or coffee, some complimentary biscuits, apples in the lobby.
The concierge was efficient. We hailed our own taxis as there was generally no one to assist us.
For a little $$ saving, take the train (not the more pricey Paddington but the other local tube) in from the airport. You need to transfer once yet it is very affordable and it literally drops you off right across the main street from the property.
Overall very good stay and I would stay here again for a family vacation or business. For a romantic weekend I would likely stay at an Apex hotel. Cheers!

Room Tip: Ask for a newly remodeled room on the 5th floor.

We stayed for three nights during half term in a large family room. Highlights were breakfast! Every morning we were greeted by Vincenzo, a highly courteous and professional maître d' hote who went out of his way to please. Lovely breakfast every morning, including a highly regarded porridge by my son! Location was perfect and within walking distance of most of the main attractions. Will certainly consider this hotel again!

We stayed in this hotel for the night of 31 May 2014. Like all hotels made from buildings previously used as office-blocks, it is confusing with more than one 'mezzanine' and 'upper ground'. On the night we stayed, there was a large private function which had a disco that went on until 02:00 am. The thumping of the music could be heard all over the hotel. Not conducive to a good night's stay! Not only that, but the disco had 'bouncers' who were preventing other guests going near the function room - which also meant that they were preventing people accessing the staircase (despite attempts at reasoning). Not good if you do not like lifts! Check-in was good but other than that the staff were indifferent. Would not recommend this hotel for 'normal' people, for city types only.

Walking distance to St. Paul's Cathedral and other great history.
Rooms are comfortable, quiet and clean. Check out the Blackfriar pub which has one of the most unique carved-wood interiors that you will ever see. Go see Ye Ol' Miter and The Cheshire Cheese pubs. Theses are hundreds of years old and predate our country.

We've stayed here before and in a better room so perhaps this clouded our expectations.

Check in was efficient and friendly.

For some reason we were given a room with disabled facilities - not sure why. The room itself (on the 5th floor) was fine but was started to look a bit tired with the decoration starting to show its age, scrapes on doors and walls etc

The dividing door with the other room was unlocked and the door would not stay shut. The air conditioning was very effective but a bit too noisy to use at anything but the lowest level.

So i might be nit picking but at just shy of £200 I think any hotel needs to leave you with the feeling that the value is justified. This time it just missed the mark.

I'm sure we'll return but we will upgrade.
