“Perfect, Luxurious London Experience”
Reviewed February 10, 2013

When we started looking for hotels in London, we focused on looking for hotels that had a lot of character. The Bentley London stood out as apparently excellent, plus had the bonus of being a Hilton, so we could use and earn Hilton points.

It was one of the best decisions we made on the trip. When we arrived, we were warmly greeted and our room was immediately upgraded from the queen room we booked to a gorgeous king deluxe room. I just can’t say enough about how beautiful the room was. It was absolutely enormous, and impeccably appointed. The walls were hung with beautiful blue fabric, the bed was huge and amazingly comfortable, the furnishings were sumptuous and comfortable. The entire hotel gives you the feeling of staying somewhere historic and special. The lobby, hallways, restaurant, bar, and all the amenities were of the highest quality and obvious decorated with an eye to creating an air of indulgent elegance.

The location was impeccable. It’s just a five-minute walk from the Gloucester Road tube station, which then gets you quickly anywhere in the city. It’s walking distance to Kensington Gardens. The neighborhood is a quiet, residential area with some great restaurants.

The staff were helpful the entire time we were there, drawing us maps, making restaurant recommendations, and generally making us feel like we were the most important guests in the hotel.

Overall, staying at the Bentley London was an intimate, indulgent experience. It was a perfect, restful place to stay while exploring the city. Walking around London all day was made even better by knowing we got to come back here every night.

My daughter and I stayed at the Bentley last November for two nights and were very satisfied. Great treatment from all staff, specially Catarina, reception manager I believe who helped us without measuring effort to obtain a medical/sport accessory to take back home. We are now returning in 2013 for another great stay. Rooms impeccable, breakfast outstanding but most of all exceptional staff.

I'm definitely going back to this hotel which is very unique and centrally located. Distanced only 2 minutes from Gloucester Road Station, you can go anywhere. I enjoyed all the coffee shops on Gloucester Road and of course the marvelous museums and Kensington Gardens. Just a few minutes from Victoria Station away, you are only half an hour later at Gatwick Airport and only twenty minutes from Heathrow.
The English breakfast makes you sit more than 2 hours, so make sure you bring your iPad or iMac with you (I did because I traveled on my own). Have not been bored one minute enjoying the beautiful mozaic tiles everywhere!

Thank you very much for your lovely feedback on your recent stay with us. We are so pleased to hear you enjoyed your visit and that you enjoyed visiting the nearby museums and Kensington Gardens. Gloucester Road is convenient for both leisure with all the museums and shops as well as business visits with its easy proximity to Heathrow, Gatwick and the Financial districts of London. We are very proud of the beautiful mosaic tiling and are so glad to hear you liked it too!

We very much look forward to welcoming you back in the hopefully not too distant future.

We stayed at The Bentley in January for our honeymoon. We had never been to UK before and I had wanted to see London for years. I spent weeks on tripadvisor figuring out which hotel to stay at. After looking at the pictures, reading reviews, and getting prices, we chose the Bentley. It was perfect! We arrived at 7:45am and they let us check in right away! There was a doorman outside that greeted us at the car, took our luggage, and brought it to our room. We were upgraded due to it being our honeymoon and when they brought us to our room, my eyes started to tear up from pure happiness! It looked just like the pictures on the website. It is the most beautiful room I have ever stayed in. I kept telling my husband I wanted to redo our bedroom at home to be just like this room! The size of the room was very spacious. The bed, blanket and pillows were very comfortable. Bathroom was clean and gorgeous.

24 hour room service came in handy since we are used to eating later in America and most restuarants/pubs stop serving food by 8:30pm. We had tea at the Peridot on Saturday and that was just lovely! We do not have high tea in America so this was our only experience with it but it was just what the doctor ordered! We had tea after our visit to the Natural History Museum (5-10 min walk from the hotel). The sandwiches, scones, and cakes were just delicious! The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Nicholas and Emmanual (i think that's how his name is spelled!) were so helpful, so nice, so great to have at the front desk. We had never been to London and they were very patient and helpful explaining which tube stops to get off to see different landmarks. My husband was very interested in trying to see the NFL playoff games and Nicholas wrote down some pubs that show the NFL games and gave him directions.

The hotel is a 5-10 min walk to several museums. Unfortunately, we were only able to get to the Natural History Museum which was beautiful, fun, and interesting. We were there for two hours and only saw 1/4 of what it had to offer! The Gloucester Tube station is a 3 min walk. There's a cute cafe on the way to the gloucester station that had really great, fresh, delicious food and coffee. There's a nice pub that was always packed but so nice inside, across the street from Gloucester station.

I cannot wait to go back to London and I'm positive that I would stay at this beautiful, lovely, amazing hotel again!

Dear Cardinals11312,

Thank you so much for your lovely review and again Congratulations! We are all delighted to hear that you had a most memorable visit to The Bentley London. It was our pleasure entirely to look after you for this very special visit.

The nearby Museum quarter with the National History Museum, Science Museum and Victoria and Albert Museum is absolutely stunning and certainly merits another visit to London and we do hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you both back, hopefully for your next anniversary.

Where do I start !

Before I booked this hotel, I checked their website and the feedback from trip advisor, all seemed positive and we were looking forward to our stay. I am not sure why there are so many positive reviews having stayed 1 night.

We arrived at the hotel and the first noticeable difference to the website was that there was no doorman, the website shows a picture of a doorman! A member from concierge collected our luggage and arranged for our car to be parked. Upon entering the hotel, it was very quiet and the reception area was different to anything I have encountered before. A very tall desk stuck in the entrance. This made it very impersonal and uncomfortable. We were given our room key and asked if we wanted a newspaper for the following morning. At all other Hilton hotels we are greeted as hilton honours Diamond members and made to feel welcome, this was not the case here.

When we got to our room, we were not very happy as the room was very dowdy in colour and uninviting, so we contacted reception to ask if we had been given an upgrade, it appears they had forgotten to do this. We were offered another room which was an upgrade.

The second room we accepted as we could see things would not improve, now for the problems with this room -:

A view of the back of the holiday inn, no tea bags just coffee, no Hilton pens just red pencils, tired looking room, damp marks on the wallpaper not vibrant looking like the website, marks on the carpet, window sills with flaking paint, turndown service at 5.15pm, bathroom finishing very poor, chipped soap dish, screws in bath panel, hair dryer in draw in the bathroom which took some opening, as you lay in the bath you could see pipe work with thick dust. The tv sound on certain channels didn't work and no plugs by mirror to use straightners etc. in general the complete finish of the room was poor.

The positives and there are 2 - good nights sleep and the aircon worked well.

This hotel uses its name and the area to promote itself as a 5 star hotel unfortunately it fails dreadfully, the fixtures and fitting are bad copies although there are some nice pieces of furniture and pictures in the public areas. We have stayed in many Hilton hotels and luxury 5 star hotels and this definitely is not one of those.

When we checked out we were told that there was a charge for the newspaper of £1.00, the financial times is the only free paper, we were not informed of the this upon arrival. The previous week we stayed in london at another 5 star hotel and we had 2 complimentary papers. The staff in this hotel need to spend the night in the accommodation they offer and they will realise, that this is not a 5 star hotel.

We will never return and would never recommend. We were very disappointed with this Hilton hotel.

This hotel is certainly my favourite in hotel. I stayed there several times and everyhting is perfect: the rooms are classy (you might find it old-fashion but it is really luxurious), comfortable, very large for the London standards. The location is great, as you are 3 mins walk away from Gloucester Road tube station and within walking distance of plenty of very nice restaurants. I must also mention the service, which is perfect: everything is done to please the customers and they pay attention to every detail.
Finally, the breakfast is amazing, with a lot of choice and very friendly staff, which is rare in hotels.

Room Tip: Try to ask a room on the upper floor of the hotel, they tend to be quieter

We have just returned from a short but very enjoyable and relaxing stay at The Bentley in London.

Our expectations were not only met, but exceeded on every occasion.

The hotel itself is located in a quiet yet very accessible (2 mins walk from Gloucester Rd tube) part of south west London.

We stayed in a Jr Suite which was fantastic in every way. Impeccably clean and well appointed.

However it was the welcome and the service from the excellent staff that really made our stay. Nicholas on the front desk was superb, going above and beyond on each occasion (I wasn't feeling well so he sent some mint tea to the room, provided umbrellas when it looked like rain and surprised us with a birthday cake for afternoon tea!).

This is a true gem, we'll definitely find it hard to book anywhere else next time we're in London.

Thanks guys!
