“Noisy and too bright...”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

Looks like a nice hotel and the evening meal was nice but the room had a glass door into the bathroom which had an expanse of frosted windows to the outside so... an early unplanned wake up with light streaming in.. Add to that the loud sound of running water through a pipe somewhere in the ceiling and I didn't get much sleep and decided to write my review at 6am!!
I'll mention the constant sounds of running water to the reception staff when I check out but I don't think they will be able to do much so best to avoid room 264

Room Tip: Avoid room 264 as its too bright and too noisy

I visited the Crown Moran for my cousin's wedding. We were all very impressed with the hotel, the service and the unobtrusive but effective way they organized the wedding. The staff were wonderful, the rooms clean and spacious and the food was excellent, with a special recommendation for a breakfast that included really fresh, good-quality ingredients.

A great hotel! Close to central London, on-site parking. Clean, spacious rooms and very helpful staff. Only 2 minor negative points- check in was quite time consuming, and if going room only, breakfast is very over-priced.

We stayed here for my sister's wedding recently for two nights and found the whole experience really very good (with one niggle). The Crown Moran used to be a grubby, rather dodgy pub years ago. The area still isn't exactly a delight and yet this place was a bit of an oasis. It is quintessentially Irish - the pub, as was, and the chain that now runs it. The extraordinary thing is that although the new conversion is predictably glass and steel and will soon date, the owners have managed to retain the essential cultural character of the place, even keeping a section of the bar the way it was and modernising the rest of it. So, the first evening we were there, traditional Irish musicians, including a marvellous singer were in the corner, doing their stuff and making the whole thing feel very uncorporate.

The rooms and the facilities were excellent - spacious and clean, well-equipped and quiet.

The main event - the wedding - took place in a function room in the hotel. This was followed by the wedding dinner and dance in the same room with a brief period with champagne and canapes to re-set. It really couldn't have been improved, with pleasant, efficient staff, very good food and a wonderful atmosphere that I'm sure all of us there will remember for a long time. I think the hotel should be very proud of their terrific performance.

The only complaint - and it's a very small one - is that upstairs in the restaurant, in which we had dinner one evening and had breakfast one morning - was extraordinarily hot and airless. The staff were very apologetic but informed us that there simply was no air conditioning and very poor ventilation. And, in fact, this minor discomfort did little to diminish the enjoyment of the occasion.

All in all, well worth staying at the Crown Moran. I'd go again.

Room Tip: I saw quite a few and they all looked good to me

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 3, 2012 via mobile

We stayed on the 1st November for two nights staying room only. The hotel is easy enough to find 10 minutes from Kilburn Underground station, you could easily walk or just get a bus from outside the station which would take 5 minutes and drop you right outside the hotel. I personally wouldn't recommend walking through the town to get to the hotel as I found the area quite scary, a lot of strange characters about. Apart from that the area is fine plenty of things to eat if you like takeaways, pubs etc, a couple of curry houses things like that. The hotel was very nice, very well presented, modern with a traditional feel. The front of house staff were fine, smooth check in and were shown to our room, the rooms are spacious and clean with plasma tv, tea and coffee making facilities etc, a few things I was disappointed with we're the fact that we had no complimentary bath robe even though on the superior room description it had said they were included, we had also requested a quiet room. And a quiet room it was not! We were right next to the swimming pool so we could here people swimming and shouting and jumping in and out at all hours. Then on the second night we were right next to the conference hall and there was an event taking place so all that could be heard was banging doors and people shouting until 1am which was very disappointing. The rooms were also very hot, and the air condition did not function very well, just blew the hot air around which also made for an uncomfortable nights sleep. We did not eat at the hotel so I couldn't comment on that. The menu choice looked good and we would have ate there if we have had more time in London. All in all I found my time at the crown Moran pleasant a few complaints but not enough to rate it a 3star. I proberly wouldn't return as I think the hotels location is too far out of central London and I didn't like the feel of the area.

Room was clean and spacious albeit very basic and, personally, found the bed to be uncomfortable but otherwise no complaints.
Bath is a nightmare to get in/out of if you are not very tall and definitely not geared to people with mobility problems.
Transport links are good and staff friendly and helpful.
All in all to be recommended but overpriced.

Room Tip: arooms facing the main street are noisy so ask for a room facing away from.
