“Lively hostel”
Reviewed November 26, 2012

Great location near the London Bridge tube stop. My friend messed up the reservation (accidentally reserving 2 guys in the all-female hostel), but the front desk & manager were able to help us out without much issue. It's connected to a bar, but in all honesty, London has so many places to eat and drink, but the location offers many pub/restaurant choices nearby. The facilities are decent (I just wish they had more showers available) and the vibe seems like mostly young travelers, but age range varies, and free wifi is always helpful. It's a really cool, vibrant hostel...but it's busy, so be sure to book early.

I am just back from my stay in London, we attended a concert in Brixton, but we decided to stay here because it seems like a decent place on the cheap. We we're greeted nicely and directed to our room, hostel seems fun and clean. Room was fine, 14 bed mix dorm, sure it wasn't the ritz, bed was a little lumpy, although I think I slept in the wrong bed the first night due to too much drinks in the karaoke bar. Some of the guests are a little uptight, so if you can afford a room for your party to have to themselves, I'd suggest you spend the little extra, otherwise you have to put up with moaning. I understand that not everyone is there for a party but if you pay cheap then you have to put up with the whims and fancies of your roommates and they are entitled to enjoy themselves/not enjoy themselves, although of course, within reason. So if your on a rowdy lads holiday, maybe splash out for a private room, otherwise you end up with people who think they are world-weary travelers, usually with dreadlocks and a copy of the hunger games telling you to be quiet every few minutes.Still overall, I thought it was nice and cheap

Room Tip: If you are going in a group, maybe try get a room just for your group

I have to start by saying that this is clearly marketed as a party hostel, so those with noise complaints should have known what to expect. That being said, I enjoyed my 4 nights in a 10 bed dorm at St. Christopher's Village. I had no issues with street noise or bar noise, and my room faced the street. The location is great, close to the tube, walking distance to many attractions. The bar/restaurant downstairs has good food and drink deals, and there is a movie/chill out room to take advantage of. The bar has parties and theme nights most days, so it is usually busy. I never partook, but heard good things from people who did. The staff were mostly friendly, the rooms were old but clean, and there were lockers for your stuff. My issue with this hostel was the bathrooms. They were always dirty and out of toilet paper, the showers were gross and had hair everywhere, and there are only 2 stalls. Definitely the biggest problem with the hostel. Everything else was great. And for those who complain about noise, the front desk gives out free earplugs.

...and cheap too! I lucked out and got a room for 12 pound.. not bad for London :)

This is a typical fairly large hostel with a strong party vibe. Awesome "common" floor on ground level for meeting people, and the rooftop terrace is also a great place to hang.

The rooms are fairly clean, as was the bathroom and I think if I remember the bed was even comfy?

Be prepared for a long hike! I was on top floor and its a bit of a walk up the stairs.

Enjoy the in house bar on the ground level! We rocked the karaoke there on a rainy night and had a blast :)

Great location and friendly staff - just not the best if you're arriving from overseas, and need a good night's rest after a red-eye flight. Some rooms are right beside an outdoor bar next door, with the bass pounding outside the window until 2am. When it's a hot night, you have no choice but to open the window, and try to sleep.

The elevator was also down when we were there, and I'd been told it had been down for quite awhile. There is a free morning breakfast though, which is a great benefit - and promos at the restaurant for guests.

Room Tip: Don't go for room 10.... anything towards the back of the building on the left-hand side will ha...

I stayed here with a couple of friends as we're interrailling across europe. This hostel offers you a good location; free breakfast in the morning and a cool common room where you get chances to meet other people. On the down side, it doesn't have a kitchen; the wifi doesn't reach all the rooms; and it's on the edge of being clean...

Room Tip: Ask for the upper one so that you don't have to listen to the hostel's party all night long.

This hostel is ok, but thats all. You get breakfast in the morning. If you need somewhere cheap to stay this is the place. Its close to the tube London bridge.

Very much noise from the road outside.
