Good location just a short walk from Paddington station. Reception staff were ok and overall the hotel is of a decent standard. Room was small but clean and the shower was good. To sum up,I doubt if you can find anything better for the price in the same area.

Pros :
- Very good location to access all the London underground (2minutes walk from paddington station) a lot of places to eat around the hotel.
- The room was calm

Cons :
- No bathtub plug
- No body/hair product provided for showering
- The bed sheets where too small
- The receptionists were not very helpful
- The breakfast didn't offer a lot of choices
- One day, the fire alarm rang at 8am for no good reason...
- No remote control for the tv
- Overall the room and hotel looked kinda old and out of fashion

This hotel was in a really nice neighbourhood and close to Paddington station. The exterior looked upmarket but that is where the appeal stopped. The lift did not work and the stairs were lopsided and felt like they could collapse at any moment. The beds work comfortable enough but the room was not exactly clean. The plumbing was also questionable. We had cold water in the Shower and hot water in the sink and by the second day the toilet stopped flushing.

The staff were as accommodating as they could be and moved us to another room where the plumbing worked but this was at the bottom of the hotel where the walls were dirty and smelled of mildew which is not great for asthmatics.

It is a cheap hotel so beware you get what you pay for.

The best advantage of this hotel is of course the location - Paddington and Lancaster Gate tube stations are in some walking minutes. You can find the necessary bus nearby to every place in London. About 10 minutes’ walk to Marble Arch and to the beginning of Oxford str. with a lot of shops.
All other things - rooms, breakfast - could be better. We had a twin room and it was so small, even beds were very short, so legs were hanging down. As for bathroom - it is so tiny that it was easier to wash hands or face standing in a room and not in the bathroom.
Rooms cannot be evaluated as clean either: all corners and crevices are filled with mud.
Also it was very cold in the hotel, the carpet on bed helps only a little bit.
The stuff is ok, nothing can be added.
So I can recommend this hotel only for those who needs the place to sleep and quick access to all sights of the city.

The initial attraction with this hotel was the price - I got what I thought (in advance) was a very reasonable deal for under £60. I've stayed in the Sussex Gardens area many times (the hotel address is actually 159-161 Sussex Gardens) but not in this hotel. I was actually in an annex across the road from the main hotel in Sussex Place which reminded me of some of the London hotels I used to stay in during the '90s - multiple flights of stairs to climb, tatty carpets, grubby decor, tiny bathrooms, heavy covers on the beds, etc., etc. I actually slept ok, which is really the point but, for instance, the TV didn't work and the breakfast was Truly Awful - watery orange juice and a clingfilm-wrapped plate of processed meats and cheese placed in front of me. I had a go at a boiled egg and then quickly left, making my way to a close-by Costa where I could find some 'proper' food. Disappointing.

Room Tip: Demand to stay in the hotel proper, not the annex.

The room we had was a triple, very comfortable beds, plenty of room to move about the bathroom was of a decent size as well. If I have to give a negative about the place I would have to say, a chair at the desk would ave been nice so there was soon where to sit, we had 2days where we struggled to get hot water for showers, but over all I give it a 4/5 rating. The staff where all friendly the continental breakfast is just that, 5 choices of cereal , orange juice, boiled eggs, toast, tea & coffee and yogurt , why people complain about a continental breakfast has me beat, most hotels I've been too offer less than that for breakfast.
