“really good”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 30, 2012

My experience at this hotel was really good. It is very near the King's Cross station so you can reach with the tube every place in London within 10 minutes. I also used the train to reach a small city at north of London. This was a very well connected Hotel. My room was small but good enough. I even found a good wifi internet connection. The single room is one of the cheaper ones I can find in all London.

Room Tip: If you need the wifi connection ask for a room at the ground floor.

This hotel is incredibly disappointing. From the outside the hotel may look like a modern, comfortable establishment however, once passing reception and being confronted with an outdated and cramped hall your mood will become somewhat deflated. The ´bedroom´door was so arkwardly position, getting a normal sized suitcase into the room was a mission in itself, as was attempting to stay in the room without climbing over stated suticase (and ´beds´) every time you wished to exit or simply use ´the bathroom´.´The room itself consisted of 2 camp beds no wider than the average size of a small person. Rolling over in ones sleep was certainly not an option. The room also came with the luxary of a sink in the bedroom (as the bathroom was in fact to small to contain it.) The smell of fried meat wafting through the room ever morning was an added surprise when we woke up (and we were on the second floor!)

If the room was not bad enough, the staff and breakfast procedure only added to our ´satisfaction.´After being barked at for over staying the 9 am deadline for breakfast, we witnessed the staff refilling the milk cartons to be refridgerated from the mílk jugs that were left on the table from previous diners. Our final evening also consisted of being woken up at 12am due to the paper thin ceiling and walls by some people in the room next to us returning to our room. After talking for a few minutes we then received a knock at our door, revealed to be a very rude reception staff shouting at us to turn of our TV (which wasnt even on.)

In every way an appauling hotel. The worst I have ever stayed in. Having travelled around Europe moving from hostel to hostel, this was also a worse experience than anything I have ever experienced before. This is not in any way a HOTEL!!

The only small blessing was the hotels close proximity to Kings Cross Station. This however did little to improve the over all experience.

Stayed one night as simply "somewhere to sleep".Very convenient to Euston (max 15 mins walk), Kings Cross/St Pancras (max 5 mins) and for my dinner in Holborn (20 mins walk). Importantly, location is quiet (I had 1st floor room at back). Rooms, like most London hotels are not spacious: my twin room was roomy enough for a simple base for my pupose or as a tourist "doing" London for 1 - 2 nights. It was clean and comfortable (personal preference but I need 2 pillows so took the one off the other bed: not sure if spares are available).
Breakfast was ample and fresh (full English) and better tasting than many more expensive hotels I've used. The only minor (to me) quibbles: some rust marks on the metallic ceilng in the en-suite. Some decor was, on close inspection, a little "tired"
4 stars reflects the performance against my "wishlist" for this type of hotel i.e. not comparing it to "luxury" hotels. You can easily pay more in London for this type of hotel and end up getting a lot less. Much better value than any of the equivalent chains

Obviously great location, yet quiet and peaceful, slept like a baby. Sure, room is small but has everything you need, nice big bed, closet and bathroom. And it's all very clean. Good breakfast. Perhaps a room tip...mine was on the ground floor and reeked of english breakfast in the morning, smell lingering in my clothes...so try something higher up, maybe it helps. Anyhow, enjoy your 55 pounds stay;)

I reserved this hotel via booking.com and did not need to pay anything in advanced. It was a nice surprise as normally all the hotels in UK charge the first night when making the reservation.

Hotel is located just around the corner of King's Cross station, only 1-2 minutes walk, very handy. Size of the room was adequate with comfortable bed, small tv, sink and shower, wardrobe, and the main thing: it was very clean. English breakfast was served from 7-9 and it included an fried egg, 2 slices of bacon, a sausage, 3 toasts, coffee/tea and a glass of orange juice.

I consider this a very good option for short stay, single room cost only £55 per night.

Very clean bright newly decorated hotel conveniently placed for Kings cross. Unfortunately there were some bad points lumpy pillows and mattress, they did change pillows couldn't be bothered to tell them about mattress after it took them over 5 hrs to change a light bulb so we could have some light in the room. The guy who was on reception couldn't be bothered to do it and thought his suggestion for us to sit in a room lit by a shaving light was acceptable! No routes on the back of doors to show the fire exit route, ladies beware no sanitary bins in rooms, breakfast staff polite but would only offer toast or cooked breakfast, bowls that had packets of jam in were full of hairs and crumbs not nice! If you are put in room 1 take ear plugs with you as every congregates outside the window from the hotel next door until about 1am every morning we were there, not great when you have a little one.

The plus points though were the extremely clean rooms

Room Tip: Not room one

Stayed for one night at Howard Winchester Hotel in London. Had a single room. The bed was quite big, small room, ensuite with a toilette and shower. Clean room. Breakfast was ok. For the price, 55 pounds it was fine.
