Only three on service because room wasn't ready and we were tired and hungry but reception very nice. We would definitely come back. The lichen was very well laid out ..... The bathroom stylish and clean. Liked the fact that you could open window.., very important in this day and age. Outstanding value for this location

Very practical place for families. Upgraded to 2 room apartment which was nice! Quiet room. Pretty central. Staff professional and helpful. Slight small bathroom but as a base for a longer London stay it can't be beaten

Great location close to Bayswater tube station. Lots of choices of multiethnic eateries nearby. M&S e some mini markets around. Friendly staff. Clean room. We had only one issue, our safe malfunctioned and had to wait until next morning for a qualified person to open it. Generous free Wifi service. Will definitely return !

Me my wife and my sister in law planned to visit London after our company trip in Munich. We booked direct from the Grand Plaza. Must have looked at hundred of places online but somehow the Grand Plaza stood out with brilliant reviews.
From day one we dealt with Isabel and she was very helpful and response was almost immediate. She gave us a great rate for a Triple Studio.
Checking in was a breeze and we were in our apt 10 minutes later. The apt was very clean and looked brand new. It was well equipped with all the comforts of home. The bathroom was fully stocked with toiletries and ample towels and the kitchen had all the utensils and equipment to cook simple meals. The TV was clear and reception was excellent. The DVD was a nice touch!
Even though it was end of March London was freezing like the rest of Europe but the apt was well heated with hot showers which never ran out of hot water.
House cleaning was of a very high standard and the staff was polite and helpful. The Guest information book was also very helpful equivalent to those found in 5 star hotels.
Location was brilliant and Queensway & Bayswater tube stations were literally a 5 minutes walk away. We travelled mainly by bus which was a cheap and convenient way of traveling with bus stations only 5 minutes away on Bayswater road.
The neighborhood was very pleasant. Quiet and safe even late at night.
I have always stayed in 5 star hotels when I travel with my company. Grand Plaza apts are very good value for money. There was very little which we could find fault with in the apartment. Though it was a bit small but all the other plus points about the apt really we could not complain.
I will DEFINATELY recommend the apts to anyone looking for a place to stay in London. I have stayed in another hotel in the same area and it is nowhere near the standards of the Grand Plaza.
I will DEFINATELY stay at the Grand Plaza again the next time I am in London.
Thanks to all the staff at the Grand Plaza for such a pleasant stay. See you all soon

This has to be one of the worst places we have stayed at ever, I have listed below the specific faults but suffice to say that this is over-priced and far from value for money. As you will see from my other reviews during same trip, I am not a moaner by nature but this apartment block almost ruined a very special family break in London. You arrive to a fantastic entrance and impressive foyer but then the story goes from bad to worse. You descend (in our case) to a lower level & then further to what looks like the catacombs in Rome, to eventually find a basement flat which will test anyone's patience & sense of humour. We were sold at an expensive rate a luxury apartment that would easily accommodate a family of 5, first warning was an email to state that our requested 3 bed 2 bath unit was un-available & we could only have a 2 bed 2 bath unit. After repeated phone calls we eventually were assured that the unit could accommodate 5 people. On arrival we realised that this was a total fabrication and the unit that was available was too small & smelled terrible. We complained to the reception but found that the only other unit WAS EVEN smaller. We tolerated the unit for 3 nights as we had no choice but spent every possible minute out of it. I have detailed below the specific issues but feel totally RIPPED OFF by this company who sold us a sub-standard break at exhoribent prices. Their website gave the impression of luxury & space but the reality was cramped, low ceiling, smelly rooms, with broken equipment & filthy conditions.
Tap in bathroom broken and tiles cracked
None of extractor fans work
Sofa bed in lounge – won’t stay flat, hard to sleep in, wouldn’t accommodate 2 adults
Filthy below sofa bed and mechanism broken
Twin bedroom – strong smell of damp
Apartment so small – how could it be large enough for 6? Could barely fit 4 round dining table
Total misrepresentation from website which shows large and airy rooms
En-suite in shower room – filthy frame – never been cleaned
Mattress in double bed – very uncomfortable – can feel every spring
Noise from floor above prevents you from sleeping later than the people above you – hear every chair scrape etc
Cover for ‘man hole’ in entrance barely covered by rug – safety hazard
How can this ceiling height be acceptable?

Room Tip: go elsewhere

First the positives:-
Staff welcoming. Received an upgrade as I had booked a one bedroom apartment with sofa bed and got two apartments instead (daughter was happy).
Bathrooms are nicely done and room was clean. Our bed was comfy. Kitchenette was nicely presented and with all the essentials.
Excellent location - pubs, restaurants, shop and tube nearby.
WIFI reception good as WIFI has own router.
Then the negatives:-
Neither room had double glazing (would have expected secondary double glazing at least) which from a noise point of view was fine as not a noisy area but from a heating point of view not good. Not only was there no double glazing but two of the three windows in our room had gaps of nearly an inch either at the top (sealed by paint so couldn't close) or at the edges where wood didn't meet. My daughters room was fine. It was so drafty we had to put towels around the windows to keep the heat in. I have reported this to reception - would be interested to know if they do anything about it (RM423).
Beds - Our bed was fine but my daughters had the indentations you get from an old mattress. Also good job she didn't stay on the sofa bed because the one in our room was so lumpy it was uncomfortable to watch TV on. Quilts didn't seem big enough.
Breakfast - We had booked the continental breakfast with our rooms. Unfortunately this falls well below the four star standard. It was two star at best. On day one we discovered that the room is too small to accommodate the number of patrons and we had to queue. Unfortunately the room was too small to allow for queuing and we either had to stand outside or squeeze up to the other 10 people waiting. Staff were very slow. There were empty tables but they were so full of dirty plates it looked disgusting. Staff made no effort to clear dirty plates whilst people were eating and every table had piles of rubbish created by them over the course of the breakfast such as cereal boxes, plastic packets and dirty first course plates. It felt like a cattle market. When they did clear the tables they took ages. I resisted the urge to clear tables myself! Once we eventually sat down we were keen to taste the multitude of options advertised on the many posters throughout the hotel. On day one the only bread provided was basic sliced - which is ok for toast but not nice to spread the 3 cheeses they offered or the 2 salamis and cheap ham. On day two they did provide low quality rolls (for 4 star I would have expected some specialist breads). To be honest the food wasn't the biggest problem and if it wasn't for the queuing and mess it wouldn't have been too bad. Unfortunately it was day two where I had the biggest issue. We had just been seated when a waitress clearing the tables put some items in the bin (next to us). She missed - which happens - and the contents of the bin fell onto the floor. She duly started to pick the large items up and put them in the bin, leaving the cocoa pops on the floor. I assumed she was then going to get a dustpan and brush and clear it up. It stayed there for the next half an hour at least where we had to step over it every time we walked to the buffet (see picture attached). All the waitresses wear plastic gloves however having picked up rubbish from the floor the waitress proceeded to set another table without changing her gloves!!!
The hotel is not too bad but seriously not four star and don't bother with the breakfast. If I'd paid a lot less for it I wouldn't have been so disappointed.

Grand Plaza is the largest Hotel/Apartment complex in Bayswater. We won the 2009 award for best serviced apartments in London as a result of votes from the readers of Business Destinations Magazine. We accommodate more people each day (tourist, leisure, romantic and business) than any other Serviced Apartment Hotel in the area.We are located in the centre of the West End overlooking the precise type of garden square which Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts climbed into in the Golden Globe nominated film, Notting Hill!
