As has been said you get what you pay for, that said I would stay again without a second thought.

The room was comfortable and clean and situated on the ground floor, a reasonable and acceptable traffic noise experienced, it is the centre of London after all.

The staff on reception were friendly and organise cabs to get around the city, it is worth remembering that if you book a private hire the price is set before travel and if you are stuck in traffic the price will still be the same unlike a black cab where the meter continues to spin and rise.

The breakfast is continental but plenty of toast jams, cereal, tea and coffee to keep you going.

One comment and not a complaint but an observation was that all the staff that I came across were not of this country but very nice all the same.

On the day we left a well spoken gentleman was doing his nut, although politely complaining about the traffic noise and who he was going to complain to was nobody business I think at some point he mentioned the Queen but I may have misheard that.
And insisted on triple glazing before returning or he would be contacting trade descriptions.

I did tell reception that I slept well enough and I didn't know the queen either

You can leave your bags at the Hotel for the princely sum of £2.50 per bag

Worth a stay

Stayed at hotel July of 2004. Booked this hotel because of location and price. Am only reviewing this hotel today because noticed the exorbitant rates they now charge. This is at best a 1.5 star facility. Room was extremely small. Had one small window that only opened 6 inches high. Room was so uncomfortably hot that after first night we searched for a hotel with air conditioning. Bathroom was pathetic, you literally had to step over water lines in order to get into the shower. Breakfast consisted of toast, that's it, toast. For what they are charging today you can get a much, much nicer place in the same area.

Arriva Hotel is located 3 min' walking from Kings Cross. The hotel is very functional, small rooms, great breakfast and helpful stuff.

It is not romantic or fancy in any way, but the price for this hotel is so low and so unusual to London - that's what makes it so attractive offer for those who just looking for a place to sleep in London.

The Arriva is handy for Kings Cross and thats its most redeeming quality, that and the fact that the staff were friendly and helpful.

The hotel stuck me as clean but certainly not spotless and not as clean as I would have liked. It needs some money spending on the decor and someone with a steady hand to go round the edges . The average 10yr old could decorate better. We had a room at the back of the hotel over-looking mud ... perhaps they could do something with the mud and weed patch to the back of the hotel?

The shower room was tiny, but had seen better days the manufactures stickers were still on the basin and pedestal which was old.. the taps need new washers and a good clean round the bottom. Most of the floor tiles were cracked, but seem to have been filled with grout so were probably sealed however the shower was grim. There was plenty of hot water and the shower had an excellent flow.

The breakfast room was located downstairs and there was an unpleasant and indescribable smell in the hall outside the room. Continental breakfast consisted of choice of cocoa pops or cornflakes, brown or white bread for toast, lots of jams and butter, instant coffee (yuck), yogurts and some questionable looking cheese and ham.

All in all, next time I book a travelodge, it will be worth the extra money.

Location is fine, but hotel is more hostel than hotel. We complained first room smelled of smoke and had dirty sheets, second room was marginally better. Cheap wood open wardrobe, none locking loo door, one socket, dirty carpet, must have been painted by a five year old. We are not fussy people and use a hotel just to sleep in, but this cost well over £120 a night, which is same as chain hotels in the area. If we had paid say £60 id have said ok. Breakfast was in a room too small, although it was clean and nice meats and cheeses. Milk for cereal was warm must not have been in a fridge for hours,
This is my first bad review of anywhere, but it needs to be said.

Room Tip: Go elsewhere for same price.

Booked this hotel for its location which was it's only redeeming point. The room was small, it was really run down, the bed was too small and uncomfortable, the carpet looked like it had never been cleaned, no side tables, very poor light above the bed, the bathroom was so small - hardly enough room for 1 person, the curtains were hanging off the railings, the window wouldn't stay up when we tried to open it as the room was stuffy and there was no air conditioning. Breakfast was in the basement which was hot and stuffy and the same everyday.
