“weekend theatre break”
Reviewed June 12, 2013

This hotel is in an excellent location 50m to nearest tube station and St Pancras and Kings Cross stations are about a 4min walk. There are plenty of restaurants and bars nearby. The hotel is clean, rooms are small but adequate, en suite bathrooms are fine with good water pressure. There is no lift. Breakfast is basic choice of 3 cereals and 5 item cooked breakfast. Staff are friendly and knowledgable re directions, transport links etc. Free WiFi

Room Tip: Rooms in basement have poor wifi service. Rooms at the front are slightly bigger.

Booked this hotel after reading reviews and was really pleased. The location was fabulous, right opposite Kings Cross Station and a 10 minute walk from Euston. We always use the buses in London and this hotel was really convenient for the bus stops for buses into the centre of London. The room was a little on the smallish size, but larger than other London hotels I have stayed in. The bathroom was larger than average and spotlessly clean. The price was reasonable and included a full english breakfast. The staff were helpful and friendly and the reception was open 24 hrs. The only thing I would have liked different was the time of the breakfast. It was all over at 9.00 am - it would have been nice if it could have been 9.30, but that is because I don't like getting up too early when I am away from home!!

I was a little nervous about booking a 2-star hotel, but was really very happy with this place. Rooms were small, but clean and had everything needed. Also nice big bathrooms (in 2 of the 3 rooms our group used; 3rd smaller). My husband wouldn't have minded some blinds or darker curtains on the east-facing windows in the morning, but really...

For the price we paid, this hotel was a good deal, nothing fancy, just basic. The rooms are very clean and the rooms have their own bathrooms. The room they gave to us (Room #109) was very nice and roomy for a family of four (had a good size bathroom for UK standards). When we tried to take a shower the shower handle broke off and we couldn't fix it. We went to the front desk to let them know and they came quickly and tried to fix it but since this happened during the evening, maintenance had gone home for the day and they had to relocate us to another room. The room that he gave us was a little smaller and the bathroom was a lot smaller than the first room, but it was fine. Hotel is very close to the tube station and train station. This hotel doesn't have a lift, so be aware that you will have to carry your luggage up the stairs. English Breakfast every morning was good. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Pros:
*Staff friendly and helfpul
*clean rooms
*each room has its own bathroom (good pressure and lots of hot water) the bathrooms in the rooms we had seemed to be newly remodeled
*free wifi
*free english breakfast
*close to the tube and train station
*they let you borrow an adapter for free (we needed one to charge our iphones/cameras, etc) some hotels charge you if you need to borrow an adapter
*close enough to everything to do lots of site seeing
*restaurants, stores close by

Cons
*if room is on the street side, you can hear people walking, talking outside, cars driving
*walls are thin, so you can hear when you're neighbor is coming in and out of the room and when they use shower, flush toilet, it is very loud
*no phone in room, so if you need to get a hold of front desk, you have to walk to the front
*no lift

If you're not picky, this is a good place to stay. We would stay here again

Room Tip: ask for a room that's not on the street side, it may be quieter

I stayed in a single room overlooking the street. The room has a good bathroom and all features you'd want--plenty of electrical outlets, mirrors, tea & coffee making supplies, and a flat screen tv. Full English breakfast was the usual, in a very pleasant room. Only drawbacks are no dark curtains (my room faced east & sunrise at 5am-ish) and no lift/elevator.

The hotel is small, but pretty comfortable. It is well located not far from King's Cross train station. Staff was very helpful. Hotels offered the essential choice for a typical English breakfast without many extras. There was free Wifi in rooms. There was no heating in bathroom, which may be a problem during winter.

I chose this hotel because it was cheap - £75 for bed and breakfast. I usually go a bit more 'up market' but was a bit skint so decided to give it a 'go'
The hotel is run by a staff of Romanian ladies who are friendly, hard working and very efficient.
Everything is very basic but I noted just how clean and tidy everything was. There is no bar or drinks facility - this is a budget hotel at its best! If you want a bed in London within a tube ride of all the tourist attractions you wont get any better without paying a whole lot more.
My bedroom (308) was the smallest bedroom I have ever stayed in - but it was immaculately clean, with fresh cotton sheets ,coffee and tea making facilities, safe,tv with cable channels, en suite shower room with sink and toilet. Bedroom windows open to allow fresh air in, but being within a minutes walk of Kings Cross/St Pancras it is quite noisy. I wouldn't let this put me off though and suggest that if you want cheap and cheerful accommodation in central London invest in a pair of ear plugs and spend the money you would have spent on a swanky hotel on enjoying yourself at one of the many attractions London has to offer.
Hotel California offers a full English breakfast with all the trimmings...hot food, cereals, fruit juice etc.

I would definitely return and would recommend it without hesitation.

Bine făcut doamnelor faci o treaba buna! ( Well done ladies!)
