“Perfect Location, Friendly, and Very Clean!”
Reviewed September 23, 2012

We stayed for 5 days in September and my husband and I cannot say enough good things about Macdonald Hotel. It's literally a 2 minute walk from Kings Cross station and St Pancras station, yet quiet with a park across the street, very safe neighborhood. We took our first chance and booked a shared bathroom, and we were not at all disappointed.(They do have ensuite rooms if you prefer) The bathrooms and showers were sparkling clean and we never had to wait. The showers also worked well, plenty of power and hot water. The view of the park across the street was peaceful and we kept the window open at all times, nice September breeze always blowing with huge ancient trees just outside. There was also a fan in the room and anything we needed such as a hair dryer, etc, they had it all!
The staff is amazing. Saviour was always at the desk and was very friendly and attentive, even preparing ice for us! The ladies at breakfast were kind and helpful and always had a plate of piping hot food in front of us with eggs, bacon, sausage, beans, and toast with orange juice and tea/coffee within minutes of arriving in the room! You can also choose from muesli or corn flakes. Delicious and perfect for on the go!
Just 2 blocks, you'll find every type of restaurant imaginable. Indian takeaway, pubs galore, and even McDonalds if you just have to :)
The beds are very comfy with nice soft sheets and comforters. We slept in 2 twin beds pushed together and we couldn't tell at all.
We would recommend this hotel to everyone, singles, couples, families, they cater to all!

Room Tip: Ask for a room that faces the park. Also, if you are in town on a Tuesday night, go to The Rocket p...

I spent a few nights at the Macdonald hotel in June 2012. I was definitely impressed and satisfied with my stay. As far as London goes you generally need to spend quite a lot of money for a good night's stay however I was on a budget! The hotel includes a really good english breakfast including hot drinks :) The room was very clean and the staff friendly and above all the location (king's cross st.pancras) is the top location for travelling! Would without a doubt stay there again

My first time in this hotel and it wouldn't be the last for sure. I had what was i looking for in London.... Distance to Kings Cross St.Pancras station within 5 minutes walk...... Rooms are average and most importantly very clean. staff is really helpful not to say wonderful it is a bed and breakfast hotel but the breakdast is well cooked and you can ask for whatever you want even with the second helping. One of my favourites! Well kept in every aspect! Value for money!

Staff very friendly and tried to resolve any problems efficiently.location excellent pity this was let down by small room but most of all problems with plumbing causing unusual levels of noise which carried on into early hours plus thin walls. Have never had such a poor nights sleep.

Room Tip: If sleep is your priority think again. Very good location

it´s a very cozy hotel, strategically located as it is 2 minutes from St Pancras Station and Kings Cross Station. you get a lot for a very reasonable price. The staff is attentive and willing to give you the help you need. The room was always kept in good condition and cleanliness of the bathrooms was always the best. it´s a highly recommended hotel and i would definitely stay at Macdonald Hotel again.

Stayed for 2 nights following a last minute booking on a cheap website, was still £80 a night which seems expensive but about right for this area of London.
Great location, literally 2 mins walk from Kings Cross/St Pancreas and set in a square with loads of other hotels which generally seemed quite quiet.
Room was small and basic, nothing special, it was clean and the sheets and towels appeared to be fresh every day.
Staff were friendly and keen to help and we had a full english brekkie included which was nice. Free WiFi was also an added bonus.
Hotel was full when we stayed so the only comment I will make is that the walls are like paper, we had a couple of elephants above us stomping around at 6am which was quite unpleasant - although I think that is kind of expected with small converted house hotels like these. It was an annoyance but otherwise a nice trip, wouldn't personally stay here again as I think it is worth spending a bit more in London for a bit more luxury and a quieter hotel but for those with this budget I would definitely recommend here.

Room Tip: To avoid noise ask for a top floor room if your cases aren't too heavy!!

I have been using Macdonald Hotel whenever in London for well over 20 years and I visit London practically every year. I would never contemplate to change over to another place. It is centrally located, so very close to the underground station. Its clean, its safe and the atmosphere very welcoming. The hosts are so very friendly and always ready to help. Highly recommended. I consider the hotel as my home away from home.
