“Ideal location in London - for a solo traveller.....”
Reviewed December 12, 2013

Excellent location, probably the most economical place to stay in central London, 5 minutes from Thames & London Eye. Very basic though. Dorms are ok, but the bathrooms stink. Breakfast is again very basic, but filling, as much tea coffee thruout the day. U can bring in your own food to cook/reheat, grab a beer & relax. Free wi-fi.Nothing great about the place, except the location.

Two nights in this hostel.
Smelly dorm, limited number of toilets, broken showers, laid-back staff.

In the middle of the second night, there were some men talking/chatting/knocking at the dorm next to ours.

It is the most expensive hostel I stayed in London (out of 5) but with poorest hygiene quality, staff professionalism.

CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP! Very very basic, FREE WIFI. Good location, lots of people staying there seemed to work in town aswell. Some even being locals. Had a great time everything was fine. Big lobby with tv screens, good locations if your down for walking places. breakfast is included aswell.

Located some 7 minutes' walk from underground station 'Lambeth North', the 'London Eye' really fulfills only very basic needs. The nicest part about it is the lobby - with two cozy couches and a TV screen in a spacious, welcoming area, it seems to be a very hospitable place - and it kind of is (a guy who didn't get a room there immediately was invited to wait there on the couch which was really nice I found). But the hospitabe feeling is just limited to the entrance area where you have free wifi and mostly people hang around. Most of the PCs placed in the lobby were ancient and not working, I guess they are just kept there because it might leave the impression one virtually had the option to use them.
Most of the plugs did not work!! in my room (a 6-bed dormitory) and I had to ask at the reception desk to charge my phone!!! like most of the others in my room. (You are definitely not being told much in advance there. If the guest doesn't notice, even better so). Two out of three of the staff seemed to be permanently annoyed which doesn't surprise given the condition of the place altogether. Still, it came across really impolite and unwelcoming. The receptionist working at night was extremely attentive and friendly though.
The 6-bed- room was utterly small and dark with no window there!!! It rather looked like a storage room where two racks were put up with three beds each. The room was dirty (floor etc) and became really hot at night with 6 people breathing and transpiring in such a small space! It should rather be used as a luggage room instead of place for guests to stay.
The facilities are not comfortable or clean either (mould in the shower, which seems to be an old classic in London hostels). You just wanna do the most basic necessary things there. Breakfast is very basic, too. With a pot of margarine and jam that everybody stirs into with their knives/spoons - toast, various cereals, milk (fat reduced and whole), instant coffee and tea bags (black tea) and a water boiling kettle.
Since there is hardly any space in your room to move or even to place your suitcase on the floor and everybody is each other's way permanently, I finally understood why most of the people sit in the lobby area to chill out. It is simply not possible to move or do anything instead of sleeping in those beds like some cage hen. I decided not to stay there again.

Room Tip: No idea whether any other room might have been better. The one I stayed in was so bad I can't re...

It is continent for people to stay if you are alone or you wan to save money. However, male and female live in the same room and you have to prepare your own staff. There is free WiFi in the lobby but the public computer is very slow.

Room Tip: The picture on the website is better than when you actually live.

The good: It's cheap and close to everything and a 5 minute walk from Lambeth North tube station. Breakfast is free, wifi is free and WORKS in the rooms. Beds are comfortable and linen is clean and free.
The bad: Weak, scalding showers where you cant5 change the temperature, stove broken in kitchen, they charge for lockers and towels and there's no room to open suitcases in the dorms.

Enjoyed my stay. The pictures I have seen must be out of date as I didn't see any mould on the walls and considering the room is for so many people it was surprisingly tidy.
Staff know a lot about where to go in London and were quite friendly even though they were very busy.
Only a few mins walk to Lambeth Walk station (abt 5 mins I guess) and I walked to BIG BEN in 15 minutes.

Room Tip: Buy an oyster card to get around london
