The space is great - lots of exposed brick and industrial fittings but the much-praised coffee and food were a let-down. The cappucinos and lattes tasted fairly ordinary and on each occasion arrived barely luke-warm. The sourdough toast with home-made marmalade was tasty but our eggs benedict and veggie breakfast were very disappointing because they were cold (probably due to waiting around in the kitchen for 45 minutes). At £9.95 and £8.50 respectively they were poor value as the portions were so small.
Apart from the lovely, smiley Japanese (?) waitress, the other staff were rather brusque and off-hand. But whatever we say, I think this place will continue to be very popular with the Shoreditch crowd (and wannabees) with their obligatory Joe 90 specs, skinny jeans and iPad Minis - very much a case of style over substance.
