Having tried to book back at the Parkwood Hotel only to find it with no vacancies, I was referred to the George Hotel which is just a short walk from the Russell Square tube stop.
It is located in a lovely little area surrounded by some astounding restaurants...Those reviews later...
I had a triple room which was more than adequate size-wise for three of us (except for the bathroom which took a bit of magic to actually maneuver around the sink to sit on the toilet and showering without actually lifting your arms. But, being there for just shy of 3 weeks, we did learn how to work around the tight spaces. But, it was private, it was in our room, so it beat the alternative...).
I really can't complain about anything regarding this hotel (great beds, pillows, tv, breakfast service, friendly reception, etc.) except our room location. We were DIRECTLY ABOVE THE DINING ROOM. Now, if you've ever been to London before, you know there are no screens on the windows and no need for air conditioning. (Now, Mother Nature...we did NOT appreciate the 4:30 am sunrises or the 10:30 pm sunsets...lol...unfortunately, the George couldn't change that).
Besides Mother Nature waking us (which we learned to close the drapes each night), we did keep our windows open. Being right above (and I mean right above - 1 floor up) the dining area, from 7 am we not only got to smell the fresh made bacon every morning (which was great for the first week), but the clanging of the dishes and the conversation did NOT make for a sleep in type morning (and I'm only talking past 8 am). We couldn't close the windows as we wanted the air so we had to put up (and wake up) with the noise.
This hotel is close to the shopping center which has the Renoir Theatre and some really cute shops. You have street vendors with fresh fruits everywhere. Literally a hop, skip and a jump to the tube stop.
Location and price-wise, I would stay there again as the tube stop is on the Picadilly Line which just about went ANYwhere you needed to go. However, if I do stay there again, I will have to STRESS that I do NOT want that room again.
