Great location and rather valuable. Very small rooms and terrible stairs. Don´t be old or have any problems with stairs. Don´t even think about fireescape and safety.

Could not lock the toilet, no remote for TV, some bulps missing, expensive wi-fi, cleaner knock on the door early (why??) no curtains to make the room dark and a lot of other "small" stuff ...

Really pissed me off that I had to pay extra if I wanted to pay with creditcard.
It´s 2013 - who pays hotel in cash? Sometimes it´s fifty years ago in England ...

Breakfast is included in price. Toast and marmelade - worth about one pence. We passed the street and paid for real breakfast at Starbucks.

i stayed at this hotel on the 7th october 2013for oe night .

if you blik u miss the hotel .
on arrival you go up a steep flight off stairs to a small digy room which they call reception where i found the staff there ok. a smile would ot hurt ! to be told to go back down the stairs back on to the street and turn right to the ext brown door then open it with the door key go up more steep stairs up about 3 floors to the room ( i do believe there are 3 bits to this hotel the rooms where the reception is ad others where you have to go back outside to etner another door )

the room is very very basic and the bathroom was small and even more basic the rest of the hotel and the shower (yes thats right o bath ) had chips in it. but then agai for cetral london u pay for what you get ( there are other hotels which are more in price and are better . although i still paid 125 poud for 1 night at this hotel .

the room was very very hot ad no heating was on , it was very uncomfortable . also we opened the window and the view was crap metal stair cases, where people sat and smoked opposite starig into our room .

in the morning the contiental breakfast was in the resturant ext to the main hotel bit .... welll im sorry but it was rubbish ......a small dark digy resturat with ot eough tables for the guests ad the tables were all to close together we were rammed in there with no room to breath .
the continental breakfast was crap a small table which had on it a spining thing with 3 or 4 cereals to choose from , a container which held i believe to be yoghurt, a coainer which had milk in and a hot drink machie ad a juice machine ...... that was it !!! i have never been so disapointed in my life and a lady will bring out to you toast and a coisant ( that was thier idea of a continental breakfast ) every other hotel i have been to who do a continental breakfast have a vast amount more to choose from and better service, a service with a smile .(why they do not offer a full english is beyond me especially when breakfast is served in a full working resturat . (although i would ever eat there as like i said before it is dark small and dingy and theres loads off tacky mourials on walls and ceiling .

yes the hotel offers wifi , but the sign in room says to get wifi go to reception ( your having a laugh , all the way down the stairs out side then back to mai hotel up more stairs to go to reception , so i dot kow if its free or you have to pay for it . )

would i stay here again , ummm no id rather spend abit more and have better quality

Room Tip: if you can not do stairs this hotel is not for you

Me and my partner visited this hotel during a weekend away in London. It was very easy to find just off Oxford Street literally a 5-10 min walk from Oxford Circus tube even closer from Bond Street tube.

The room itself was very basic but just what you need for an overnight stay in a good location. It wasnt too spacious but had a double bed, wardrobes, a dressing table with a mirror and a bathroom complete with shower, toilet, sink and mirror. It was definitely what you need to drop your bags off and head out to site see or shop as everything is just on your doorstep.

Breakfast was served the next morning which was nice. Nothing too great but toast, cereals, crossants etc along with drinks. Breakfast was also in with the price of the hotel so was good to start us off for the day.

We wanted to do visit London Zoo and do some shopping before travelling home on the Sunday and the hotel was happy to look after our bags in the reception until we returned which was good as i stayed at the Travel Lodge in London before and they didnt allow this so this meant dragging a suitcase around all day.

We would definitely return to this hotel as although basic, was just what we needed for the weekend.

but the joke ends here.
The only real positive about the place, is it's location.
The room had clean bedlinen, the bathroom was fine, but very small! The showercubicle was tiny!
No lift, steep stairs, windows that wouldn't open easily, overlooked from the offices at the back....
We went to Ed's for breakfast, just a minute away, and at least got something to keep us going for a while!
I wish I could at least say it was cheap.... No, we are not going back!

Room Tip: Choose a different hotel.....

This is a fantastic hotel and the location is brilliant - right next to Oxford Street and a short walk from Soho.

For the price we were very surprised by the size and the cleanness of the room.

One downside was that i thought it was very cheeky of them to offer guests a 10% discount in their restaurant, when in reality it isn't taken off the bill, they just excuse you from paying a tip.
The restaurant was very good and the waiter gave excellent service so I felt too guilty not leave a tip hence making the discount pretty pointless.

I would definitely stay again though

We have just come back the trip in London and stayed in the Mermaid hotel. Although the location is excellent but it is quite noisy as you can hear traffic from the streets. The hotel does not have the air condition but does have the heater. When we were there in July 2013 the weather was very hot . Some day it was up to 32degrees and we were extremely hot and we could not open the windows because it was very noisy and hot air could come inside the room. The room is clean and quite comfortable. The breakfast is poor but we do not expect much because it is a budget hotel. At night time when we sleep we could hear footsteps of people walking on the above floor. The hotel does not have the lift so if you have heavy suitcases you need to be aware. The hotel has wifi but you have to pay for. However in the room the line connection keeps cutting off so we don't bother to get a wifi there, but go to the coffee shop to get a free one . Also the hotel does not provide the fridge.Overall it is a good hotel to stay because of a good location , good price and if you can sleep through the heat.

Room Tip: Do not get a room on the top floor in the hot weather as the hotel does not have an air condition.

We had a seven bed room as a group of friends, I'm not sure what I was expecting, but was pleasantly surprised.
The rooms were spotlessly clean, and the location perfect. We had a good sized room, particularly for the number of beds.
I'd definitely stay here again.
