“Garbage...Avoid staying here”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 3, 2013

Though the location of this hotel was good, everything else was garbage, including the service.
The hotel is advertised as newly renovated, but it still looks run-down and dirty.
They put us in a tiny room in the basement. The hotel also advertised air conditioning, which was just a fan bolted to the wall, and it wasn't working either. The rod for the towel rack broke as I was showering and almost hit my toe. The breakfast room is super tiny, and the food runs out fast so you'd have to get up pretty early and race for your food. One night there was water dripping from the ceiling on to one of the beds. It took forever for someone to come down and fix it. As we were waiting we joked about how the staff was probably just going to stick a bucket under the leak. Sure enough, in came the staff with a bucket. We were scheduled to stay for 5 days but after 2, we just couldn't take it anymore. After several attempts to check out early and get our money back, the manager finally gave it, but on the condition that he charge us for the 3rd night. We were so desperate to get out of there, we had no choice but to settle. The manager didn't even look up at us or apologize or anything. The worst hotel I've ever stayed in and the worst customer service!!

Dear guests,

The hotel was fully refurbished in 2013. So any reviews up to 31st August 2013 should be completely disregarded.

We have asked Trip Advisor to remove reviews relating to prior to the refurbishment. We have sent proof of new ownership and of refurbishment, documents from the Building Control from the Local Council , pictures after refurbishment etc.

We first thought the staff were going to be good? Sadly this did not last long. When we asked for an extra pillow,We were told it would be there in the afternoon, When it did not arrive by the evening I went to reception and was told to fold up a towel as they did not have any more pillows? Cheers a bunch. The toilet seat was broken and hanging off, the cold tap was a dribble and if you wanted to get a quicker flow you had to set it to warm! Which is lovely to rinse your mouth out when brushing your teeth. There was a smell in the bathroom which we put down to the fact the basin did not drain very well at all or sewerage, The kitchen staff arrived at about 6.30 am and started to be very noisy with loud pots and pans hitting the hob, and calling out to each other. They may as well have been in our room. The breakfast was a joke with 2 toasters that did not toast, Unless you put them through at least 4 times, and as they were by the only doors, You blocked the entrance so other people could get through. With other things broken off the wall I would only rate this as a 1 but it was at least clean? Hence rating of 2

Room Tip: Ask for a room that is not in the basement, As these are tiny. Maybe the others are a better size, A...

I paid £44 for 1 night bed and breakfast for me and my partner.

Couldnt complain, clean room, warm, 1 minute from the tube and in central London. Will use again if going to a concert.
Wouldn't stay here with my child though, had that film of grime about the rooms even though it was clean

Once you book a room in the fewer stars category, there is always some uncertainty - a bit like the Christmas present provided by someone you do not like... all is possible, but usually with a capped upside!
This hotel is scratching the upside ... its clean, functional, staff is friendly, all works, rooms are ok, breakfast is provided, shower works (there are some rooms in the basement of the main house which have the tendency to simulate the Okawango swamps, ... better avoid): hot and powerful ... actually nothing to complain!
Its centrally located, there a shops around; pubs and restaurants nearby, .. what more to ask for?
All in all ... good choice, I was fairly happy with the place!

Room Tip: Avoid the basement!

Tiny single beds, turn sideways and you may fall out. Extremely small rooms. Very hot. The breakfast room is so hot that in winter it's best to go down in summer clothes. Also very small and tight squeeze. The hard boiled eggs are very hard boiled, practically grey. Most staff are not English and they do not understand most questions. However location is excellent, and at that price you would be mad to spend any time in the room except to sleep in.

Room Tip: Rooms without a balcony seem to be a bit larger.

i booked this room then went onto trip advisor, reading other reviews i was really dreading staying and expected a very dire hotel.

Well NO!!!! its is a very clean, pleasant hotel and it does what it says on the tin!

The rooms are small you cannot get away from that, but they are clean and comfortable
we staying in 314 right at the top but i would imagine the ground and lower ground floors would be noisy and expecially if you were near the lift.

The breakfast room was small but there was real atmosphere.
Breakfast very basic, but hey this is a budget hotel!

so here we go

pros
its clean
its central
its cheap

cons
packed
a bit noisey

would book again!

Room Tip: top floor away from lifts

Looking for a cheap hotel in London for a city trip with my son I found by swoodoo this hotel.
Please keep in mind this is a cheap hotel but relatively clean and has all you need for a short stay. Do not expect any luxury. It is good for sleeping there and for having a breakfast before you start to explore London if you are care about a good value.
Location
The hotel is located in 2 4-storey buildings in the silent side street near Earl´s Court tube station (about 100m), 10min to Westminster by tube, 1st zone. They are separated by an other building, but the breakfast room is in the main building only, so you had to come there from the other building for breakfast if you had the room in the second building.
There is a modern lift. The entrance to the hotel is not for the handicaped persons (stairs). There are many shops near to the hotel, grocery, chemist, banks with cash maschines, pubs, china restaurant, McDonalds, Burger King etc.
Service
Ok, check in was simple and fast, within 5 min we had a key, you do not need to leave your pass in the reception. Check out was within 3 min.
Room
Relatively narrow. 3 beds, a small table with a water boiler + coffee/tea bags/sugar/milk, small fridge, tv on the wall. Bathroom with a shover, toilet + a small sink, not the cleanest one, some mildew, some chalk. Problem with the regulation of the water temperature in the shower: one had to wait long for the hot water comming, then it was too hot, then again too cold.
The inside room temperature was astonishingly too high even if the radiator was closed (we had to sleep with the open window in February), no air con. English plugs, but if you have no correct connector for your changer you can buy one at the reception by 5 pound.
Breakfast room
It consists of 3 connected small rooms in the basement, breakfast is very simple (cheese, eggs, jam, butter, milk, coffee, musli, tea, bread). Many people, a little crowdy and not so much space. Simple but clean furniture. Breakfast included in the room price, every day the same but you can get some calories for the start of the day if you do not expect the royal meat.
Cleanliness
The room was cleaned every day, fresh towels every day.
Sleep Quality
No problem, the street is silent, even at the open window in the night there is no noise. You can see and hear sometimes aircrafts flying by. Beds ok, pillows a little to small and flat.
Summary
Perfect for a cheap short stay if you want to explore London and do not have big expectations. Clean and simple.
