Booked two rooms in this shabby and run down hotel. Location was great but that´s the only thing that was ok...

Staff was rude. Rooms were worn out with stains all over the place, fitted carpet caused serious concerns. Walls were stained too. Mold everywhere.. Beds were dirty and mattresses were completely worn-out.

Rooms were really tiny. Breakfast room was cramped, noisy and filthy. It seems that pictures provided by the hotel were taken with some sort of a bizzarre wide-angle lens. Trust travellers photos only!

In-room safety boxes were broken. Made complaint, nothing happened. After the very first night (in the basement room) there was a string of mystical event upstairs.. for some reason ceiling cracked open, pieces of plaster & water came straight to bed. Next day relocated to another room.. which was tiniest ever with no table at all.

I wouldn´t recommend this hotel to anyone, not even my worst enemies. Avoid at any cost.

Yes, hotel was quite cheap and in an old building in London so expectations were not so high because this kind of accommodation is familiar to me. But somehow Oxford Hotel describes itself as "three star deluxe hotel". What a joke!

Dear guests,

The hotel was fully refurbished in 2013. So any reviews up to 31st August 2013 should be completely disregarded.

We have asked Trip Advisor to remove reviews relating to prior to the refurbishment. We have sent proof of new ownership and of refurbishment, documents from the Building Control from the Local Council , pictures after refurbishment etc.

Small cozy rooms, nothing staggering, but if you are in London to experience the city like we where - you just need a place to sleep. Location is fine near the underground station and the hotel is cheap. Breakfast is not worth mentioning, but again what can you expect for such a price.

Would recommend this place for people who wants to experience the wonderful London, while they are not spending lots of time in the hotel.

I stayed in this hotel as part of a package deal with National Coaches several years ago. Judging by the recent reviews it has not improved.

My room was at the top of a winding staircase, up which I had to pull my luggage. The double room itself was clean, but not particularly comfortable. It reminded me of the inside of a static caravan, with strange plastic fittings around the bed. The worst part was at night when I returned from meeting friends. There was only a sheet and a thin cover on the bed, and it was freezing cold. I phoned down to ask about the heating and was told they didn't turn it on that early in the year. This was October! I couldn't even get another blanket. I ended up sleeping in my clothes to stay warm.

I slept very badly. The continental breakfast the next morning wasn't too bad and the breakfast room was empty when I had to get up to go to my meeting. But I wouldn't stay in this hotel again.

Room Tip: Take your own blanket! And be ready to climb some very steep stairs, even if you have mobility probl...

On arrival at the Oxford the reception staff were rude & barely said two words to us, we basically had a form thrust at us to sign & mumbled directions to our room.
The room was tiny and horrendously dirty - there was a large stain on the carpet and a huge what looked like a 'pee' stain on the sheets. Our double bed was two singles pushed together which came apart with any slight movement.
On the wall there was a TV (on an angle) and an electric fan with hideous wiring and holes and scratches all over the paintwork. There was no shower gel provided and everytime we flushed the toilet the button got stuck and it would repeatedly flush.
The hotel cleaning staff began hoovering right outside our room at 8.00 AM & the walls are paper thin. There was an incredible noise from the showers above us when they were used as well.
We were out of our room from midday until five pm and although we informed reception that we were leaving so our room could be serviced no-one bothered to come & service our room at all.
The location may be good but the cleanliness, facilities & service was horrendous. Don't stay here.

I booked this hotel to be near to the Royal Albert Hall, as I had purchased tickets for Carmen, for my husband's 70th birthday gift. The room we were allocated was a single room with twin beds. It was warm, but so cramped. It was reasonably clean. How they called it a twin room is unbelievable! The staff in the dining room were so miserable. I noticed one of the staff was filling up the cereal container and pressing the cornflakes down with bare hands, no gloves. It was toast on a broken toaster, cheese and hard boiled eggs. We were packed in the dining room. It really was awful. However, the staff on the reception desk were very accommodating, but that is the only upside of this hotel. It could have been so much nicer. From a very disappointed couple who thought the Albert Hall was wonderful. It spoiled the weekend.
