Description: On entering Otto's you are presented with a warm welcome in this beautifully decorated, even a tad quirky, hidden away gem of a restaurant that transports you to the Belle Époque of 1870’s Paris. Otto honours the spirit of Auguste Escoffier with Classics such as Escargots, Steak Tartar and the spectacular Canard de Rouen a la Presse. Downstairs reveals a Private Dining Room with a Grand Dining Table, a most enchanting place to celebrate, entertain and share frivolities with friends. This wonderful recipe was created at the beginning of the 19 century by a restaurateur from Rouen named Mechenet. This recipe for pressed duck owed much of its success the the Duke of Chartres, who commanded it highly in Paris. When the renowned cook Frederick took over the restaurant La Tour d'Argent, he began numbering all the pressed ducks that he served, intending to make the dish the speciality of his restaurant.

Went here for my birthday dinner on a trip to London in August. I found the restaurant on line and was really looking forward to the experience of the pressed duck. From beginning to end the night was a delight. All the staff were welcoming and professional. Otto in particular was a gracious dn entertaining host. The food was superb. But be warned there is a lot of duck for two people. All in all the experience lasted 3.5 hrs. Would definitly return to the restaurant to eat from the ala carte, the duck is a great experience but a once off threat.

I have never been to the Tour d'Argent in Paris but I think this is what it would be like minus the prices and minus stiff service. The menu is classic French with all sorts of dishes I haven't seen in years. Tournedos Rossini anyone? Everything we had was absolutely delicious and a reminder of why the classics endure. Highly recommended.

A delightful find on the edge of London's legal bailiwick. Foie gras outstanding, rabbit and steak tartare were both very good. The eponymous proprietor spends his time front of house with cooking limited to their special Canard a la Presse which are generally limited to two orders a night given the prep time

Otto's has an interesting menu which changes regularly (I've lunched here a few times). I often find myself trying different things off the menu rather than sticking to well-known favourite.

Food is always excellent, service is top notch and friendly. There is attention to detail in the sauces, the sides and the never-ending delicious bread. If you go for the set menu, value for money relative to quality of food is second-to-none.

A wonderful old-fashioned French restaurant where the food is of outstanding quality, the service attentive and the whole experience is like going to a restaurant thirty years ago. This is the absolute antidote to slick, glitzy modern dining with show-off food. Traditional French food cooked exceptionally well, with a great deal of Gallic charm to accompany it. They have a duck press and if you want pressed duck you have to order it well in advance because they bring the duck in from Normandy. Really.
